I used to use Colgate Icy Blast as my preferred toothpaste but when I decided to make the switch to more natural products I selected Auromere Herbal Toothpaste to test out. The results so far are outstanding! This toothpaste contains 24 herbal extracts including the “toothbrush trees” Neem & Peelu, along with other barks, roots, plants, and flowers esteemed for their assistance with dental care. It is pure and natural, contains no fluoride, artificial preservatives, saccharin, or artificial sweeteners. It is also a cruelty free product. Also, since it is an Ayurvedic product it is compatible with Homeopathic remedies. So how does it taste? Delicious! It tastes very much like black licorice. This product deserves Nature Mom’s highest praise.
Here is a comparison of the ingredients!
Colgate Icy Blast: Water, hydrated silica, sorbitol, glycerin, pentasodium triphospate, sodium lauryl sulfate, PVM/MA copolymer, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, polyethylene, sodium saccharin, cocamidopropyl betaine, cellulose gum, sodium hydroxide, carrageenan, mica, titanium dioxide, FD & C blue no.1.
Auromere Herbal Toothpaste: fine chalk, glycerin (vegetable oil), purified water, , Peelu, Neem, Indian Licorice root, Pomegranate rind, Common Jujube, Rose Apple, Clove, Persian Walnut, Baleria prinoitis bark, Indian Almond, Bedda Nut, Asian Holly Oak, Prickly Ash, Zanthoxylum alatum, Sappan wood, Catechu, Bengal Madder, Acacia arabica bark, Sarsaparillo Cinnamon, Medlar bark, Mayweed, Bishop’s Weed, Silica, sodium lauryl sulphate (from coconut oil), Carageenan, Cellulose gum, Clove oil, Gernaium extract.
While I commend you on your move from Colgate to a cleaner toothpaste there is an ingredient in the list that jumps out at me immediately. Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS). It is very misleading to consumers when there is a ingredient that is a synthetic chemical followed by the “from coconut oil”. This makes it appear that this synthethic chemical is somehow natural. This just isn’t so. The other ingredients look very nice but the fact that there is SLS would be enough for me to not use it.
SLS is a particularly nasty anionic surfactant. (a foaming agent) Animals exposed to SLS experience eye damage, Central Nervous System (CNS) depression, laboured breathing, diarrhoea, severe skin irritation and even death. Young eyes may not develop properly if exposed to SLS because proteins are dissolved. SLS may also damage the skin’s immune system by causing layers to separate and inflame. (this information came from a Queensland, Australia Government public health fact sheet)
There are other toothpastes on the market that do not have SLS in them. For example: Miessence Anise toothpaste with the following ingredients:
Ingredients
Organic aloe vera (aloe barbadensis) leaf juice, purified water (aqua), sodium bicarbonate, non-gmo xanthan gum, sea salt, organic fennel (foeniculum vulgare) essential oil, stevia rebaudiana extract. 57% Organic Product. 100% Natural Product.

Thank you for comments. We also are aware of the dangers of SLS and will always look for cost effsective oral products that do not contain this ingredient. We hope to try the Miessence Anise toothpaste you mentioned! Thank you.

Wow, that looks like a very nice natural toothpaste to use, instead of the usual toothpaste with fluoride we can buy in any supermarket.
