A "Green" Christmas Tree

So what are your Christmas tree options this year? Should you get a real tree – grown on a local Christmas tree farm with chemicals and fertilizers or should you get an artificial tree with the dreaded PVC? This is a hard but necessary choice for many because Christmas just isn’t the same without a tree.

Well, the EPA recommends the artificial tree if you plan to use it year after year. BUT have you considered a live potted tree, grown organically, and then re-planting it after use?

Visit this site for more information on living Christmas trees, including information on how to re-plant after use.

A few years ago we did get a live tree. It was a regular size Christmas tree. The roots were wrapped in burlap. After Christmas we planted it in the yard and it’s still healthy and growing. It felt good to save a tree and keep the memories of that Christmas alive.
Buying a live tree each year might even be a great way to plant a privacy border for your yard!
