http://www.ccfa.org/info/about/crohns

Crohn's and a related disease, ulcerative colitis, are the two main disease categories that belong to a larger group of illnesses called inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Because the symptoms of these two illnesses are so similar, it is sometimes difficult to establish the diagnosis definitively. In fact, approximately 10 percent of colitis cases are unable to be pinpointed as either ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease and are called indeterminate colitis.

Both illnesses do have one strong feature in common. They are marked by an abnormal response by the body's immune system. The immune system is composed of various cells and proteins. Normally, these protect the body from infection. In people with Crohn's disease, however, the immune system reacts inappropriately. Researchers believe that the immune system mistakes microbes, such as bacteria that is normally found in the intestines, for foreign or invading substances, and launches an attack.

My husband had ulcerative colitis with symptoms of Crohn's. He had four colonoscopies as well. My point is simply in relation to having colon cleansings. Checking for disease of the colon is far different than checking for this so called build up. I've done the research and doctors say that this so called build up of feces in the colon does not exist. Where is your research that having colon cleansings will prevent cancer and colitis/Crohns? In fact, there are warnings on the colon cleansers themselves saying that if you have colon cancer, colitis, Crohn's, or an irritable bowel syndrome then you should never undergo a colon cleansing. So in fact, if one unknowingly suffers from any of these diseases, a colon cleansing will make their condition worse and obviously prevent nothing! Your claims on your blog are not backed up by any solid research, nor is the source of your research even given. To tall people that colon cleasenings may prevent them from getting these serious diseases is just irresponsible. Colitis/Crohn's researchers themselves do not claim to understand why the diseases exist, so to claim that they can be prevented by colon cleansings is just outrageous.

First of all, the reason a colonscopy is done is NOT to check buildup along the wall of the colon. How do I know this? Because my husband had to drink a prescription medication that cleans out the colon so no fecal matter gets in the way of the view of the camera.

I had no clue that having an unclean colon could lead to Crohn's, Diverticulitis, or even cancer.

I just started on a colon cleanser program and I am starting to feel better and see some results, but I had no idea that it could lead to such serious diseases.

<em>colon cleansing's last blog post..</em><a href='http://cleansecoloncleansingdetox.com/first-day-of-colon-cleansing-detox/' rel="nofollow">First Day Of Colon Cleansing Detox</a>
