Well, I do not have a KitchenAid mixer but from what I can tell they are not an enclosed device. I think making my smoothies in one could be potentially disastrous. So I think I would have to stick with my Vita-Mix. At this point it is all I really read...it grinds foods, I can knead dough with it, I can make soup in it, and most importantly I can make delicious smoothies. I use it 3-4 times a day and I can't see needing anything else.

If one had to choose between a KitchenAid mixer and Vitamix, which is better and why?

[...] Today I had my long awaited PET/CT scan. The whole process took about four hours but of course the torture began waaay before that, LOL. I had to stop eating any sugar or carbs for two days prior and while I only eat natural sugars, like those in fruit, I had a tough time with this one. I was crying all over my Vita-Mix when I couldn’t make any smoothies. And my husband can attest to this…no smoothies made for a very grumpy girl. It is amazing that even when you eat natural sugars and not much of them that you still get a little bit of those sugar blues you hear so much about. [...]

[...] But this week I stumbled upon some other great finds. Costco has a large selction of organic turkeys! I think a 12 pound bird was about $65.00. They also had some organic wine and a few other organic foods that would be good for Turkey Day, including organic Tapioca pudding for desert, or perhaps the Tapioca could be blended with some almond milk and sprinkled with Nutmeg to make healthy Egg Nog, courtesy of my new Vita Mix. If I could just find someone to do the cooking then I will be set. [...]
