Environmentalism and frugality often co-mingle. Yes, I will pay more for organic, fair trade items but I also like to think that I find other ways to be more frugal in my life so that it all balances out.
Teaching kids about the value of a dollar is something that I find quite hard though. Luckily I found something really fun that helps in this regard…and the kids love it too. It is called The Money Mammals.
The Money Mammals can help teach kids 2-6 about the value of money. They can learn that saving, sharing and spending smart can actually be fun. In their song-filled debut show, Joe the Monkey and friends learn to Share & Save & Spend Smart, Too. Clara J. Camel’s birthday is coming up and Joe and his friend, Piggs the Bank, NEED to buy her a present. But they also WANT to buy the new Coconut Hero Card. Come join the fun as Joe and Piggs learn that saving money for a friend can be more fun than buying something for themselves.
In addition to the DVD you can also purchase a gift package that inlcudes a nifty “Joe the Monkey” bank. These products have won quite a few awards and they rate good with kids too so be sure to check this product out and stop by the site to download the “Money Mammals Theme Song.”
Thanks for the tip. That sounds really interesting. I was able to use this post to jolt you on my art/education blog geared toward children ages 0-5.
