I have reusable bags that I bought from my grocer, but it is no where near as stylish as these.

I had to chuckle about the mother and daughter shopping bags. Had my mother offered me a matching shopping bag when I was a wee tween I would have been mortified. I hated shopping back then - hee, hee.

We bought reusable bags from our local stores and I packed a few purses I already had (that were more like cotton totes, because those are the kinds of bags I like) in our car and YET we haven't used them more then once. It's hard to break the plastic bag habit. At least I reuse them for trash bags, for keeping dirty cloth diapers in, etc, but I know a plastic bag would need to be reused like 13 times for it to be worth the cost in energy. It's tough breaking the habit though! Which is why I love that stores like Ikea have completely stopped carrying free plastic bags.

We're phasing out plastic bags over here too. Sometimes I still forget to carry my reusable totes but then I ask to carry the item out of the store with no bag if they'll let me. Another totally economical option is to sew up the bottom of a tank top and use the arm holes/shoulder straps and the tote straps. For a few bucks at the thrift store and 15 minutes at the sewing machine you could have enough totes bring home all your groceries. Not as cute as the one you're showing though...

What a great post.. I just love finding people who spread the word about great ideas to help preserve Nature and prevent waste. And what wonderful ideas for gifts these are! Thank you.

Enjoy each moment,

Teri

I was amazed the other day to realize thatmy family could be using cloth napkins instead of paper. Why has this not occurred to me before? We use a lot of napkins, and I just keep mindlessly buying paper ones. Not anymore!
