Tiffany do you have any recommendations for lunch boxes for kids that are BPA free - I know of laptop lunches, are there others?

I'm sending my oldest 3 off to art summer camp for a week and need to purchase some.

Thanks

I became aware of this (the phlalates) a while back through a PBS documentary (yes I'm a big dork) and it was really disturbing. Disturbing because there are many alternatives to using phlalates..and in countries where there are prohibitive laws, they are required to use those alternatives. The problem here is that we don't have 'just in case it's dangerous' laws here. In Europe a product can be outlawed on suspicion of dangerous content - it must be proven safe..not true here. We first let many people get sick, we document that, then decide to outlaw it based on evidence. We elect to prove something dangerous..It's particularly troublesome when you think about the big picture. How many products are being used right now that might be very, very harmful and we just don't know because it hasn't been proven harmful yet.?

that girls last blog post..What's the point?... Really?

We always check with manufacturers for info on Phthalates, BPA, and lead before reviewing a product. We had one company where we kept asking for the info and they got us the Phthalate and lead info, but not BPA...so we held off and sure enough, weeks later, get an e-mail that they are pulling their product, which did in fact use BPA, due to the reports about BPA (which came out after our inquiry).

I think this is definitely one of those things that bloggers like you, Zrecs, etc. have been keeping the spotlight on. I think it is so wonderful that as bloggers we can have this positive influence.
