this is a great book. I love how things are set up by season. My husband and i are reading "I Love Dirt" and "The Last Child in the Woods". Both are full of great ideas and lots of valuable information. I am sure that these will only serve to help us maintain a love for the outdoors with our two young children.

Thanks so much for this tip! I too want to raise kids who are happier making mud pies than twiddling with technological gadgets. At this point my toddler is a professional at playing with bugs and covering himself in grime. We'll check out "I Love Dirt" to try and keep that love of nature going over the years.

Hi Tiffany, sounds like a great book. I totally share your dismay at kids not able to play. My boys spend most of their time outside, going on little adventures, but I have also noticed that some little friends just can't cope with being outside for longer than a few minutes. So sad.

I have no idea what a Nintendo DS is, but I suspect the child in front of me at tonight's Triple A baseball game was playing one. When did our society allow children to be plugged in all the time? As cliche as it is, "when I was a kid" we were locked outside all day and had to fend for and entertain ourselves. We seem to be ok. And I MISS those days more and more as I grow up.

I **loved** Last Child in the Woods. If only more people would read it, perhaps they wouldn't allow their child to bring video games to baseball games. Sigh.

Thanks for the review. It has to be awesome if Louv did the forward.
