Thanks for the book recommendation. I'm going to check it out tomorrow. I've been on a mission of decluttering my life, cleansing not only my body, but my life in general, simplifying, etc for some years now.

I'd love to learn more about how others are living and doing it.

Thanks!!!
Kristen's Raw :)

What a wonderful post Tiffany! I have always lived simply, and people often wonder why I am so happy. Loving my family, delighting in the natural beauty outdoors from sunrise to sunset, rain or shine, and finding adventure as each moment unfolds is just part of my nature. Possibly I am too optimistic, yet I love to find the good in all things, even though my eyes are wide open and I am quite aware of the terrible ugliness and power struggles in the World. I choose to create a place of sanctuary in my home, and believe me, it is quite simple. I do not put much store in impressing others, yet I am happy when my simple light touches others in a good way. Usually I am not aware of how I affect people, children, and animals unless it is pointed out to me... then I just smile.

Friends and Family are everything... even those we have not yet befriended or may never truly know. Everything else is just a sidenote in this existence, which is a blink of the eye in the scheme of things.

Enjoy the moment and each other,

Teri

Above is a link to Northwest Earth Institute's website. A group of co-workers have done both the Voluntary Simplicity and Healthy Children, Healthy Planet discussion series. Staright from their website...The courses provide an enjoyable, supportive setting in which to examine personal values and habits, engage in stimulating conversation, create meaningful community, and consider ways to take action towards creating a more sustainable future.

NWEI discussion course study guides are manuals for a self-facilitated course experience, taken informally by small groups in a home, at your workplace, your center of faith or, any place where people naturally gather.

There is no outside presenter or teacher of these discussion courses. Rather, anyone can organize a group in their community with the role of facilitator rotating with each meeting.

These programs emphasize individual responsibility, the importance of a supportive community, and the dual need to walk lightly on and to take action on behalf of the Earth.

Life taught me about simplicity and its value. As a single mom I had some hard times and when I got married I did not marry for money because it was not the end all of me being.

Even though we have more now than we have in 6 years, we are still very simple people.

I wasn't this way growing up. I loved what looked good and what cost money. My momma and daddy always made sure I had what I wanted because I was a pretty good kid. But goodness they spoiled this baby of the family and it was not a good thing.

I am glad that God had shown me the value of simplicity. It makes life so much more bearable when you are not worried about the complexities of life. I teach it to my children and I sure hope they teach it to theirs as well.

I love the idea of living simply in fact that is how I was raised. Although my husband is one to accumulate stuff and big toys so to speak. I have always been on the simple side and having to go through a period of time in my life that was difficult. It taught me more of importance of why living simply does not mean you are less of a person, but teaches you to be happy in all situations and content with what you have.

Sounds like a really great book, I think all need to realize that things will not bring you happiness, being content with the important things in life like love, basic shelter, food, clothing is what will help you to lead a more fulfilling life with a purpose.
