My son and I played with this tea set last week at a local shop, and I loved it too. I almost bought it (and hten would have hid the small parts), but I thought it would be better to wait until he is ready for the sugar cubes. :)

Shannon, local is better. I love to shop at Etsy for local wares. But I do like and support companies like Plan Toys and Melissa and Doug as well, despite their outsourcing of production because they are bringing healthier and more sustainable toys to the masses.

I wasn't talking about buying plastic toys that were also shiped in... I said specifically "local artisan" and was thinking of those folks at craft fairs who make simmilar wooden toys.

Actually no. If a plastic tea set and wooden tea set both come from Thialand the wood is still better than the plastic. I think you might be forgetting that MOST of the plastic tea sets you find in stores are manufactured in foreign countries like China and Thialand.

Not to rain on your parade but doesn't the eco-trouble from transport("Made in Thialand") totaly counterballance any good from this toy being made in a green way?

It is cute but I'd rather give that money to a local artisan than ship this stuff in from a factory in another country.

Just my $0.02 of course,
- Shannon

Cute! I love Plan Toys as well, especially the City vehicles my son plays with for hours on end. This is a great price for a high quality product/company.
