This is really an eye opener. I'll definitely be checking out this book. It's so sad how so many of the cancers and other illnesses we experience today could be prevented if people cared more about people than money.

I truly believe the only way to combat the big businesses in making millions at any cost is to be aware where we put our money. It will happen slowly but it will happen. The largest vote we have in this country it with the money we spend. Where are dollars go are the show of what we are commited to as parents. So maybe we buy less junk and buy better stuff. No matter what financial class we are in there is a way to do this. Are we buying from companies who are socoally responsible and in business for quality or quantity? Most companies in business delivering a truly safe, organic, non-toxic product are doing it for the commitment and quality. Not seeing how many millions they can make. So you won't see large advertising campaigns and millions spent on marketing. We have to do the homework, read ingredients, research the companies philosophies. The large companies rely on the fact that most people believe everything they see on tv. Every small change can be huge impact if we all do it together, it will be a trickle down effect. It may take a while but it will become a way of life, and a better one. This is my mission as a parent and a consumer to make more of these truly caring companies more available. You can see my picks for stuff I believe in and use for my own 3 children at www.limeblossomnaturals.com. Thanks Tiffany, I enjoy your blog!

Thank you!

Misty, I agree with you that organic parenting is not hard once you start doing it.

Now, more and more people are understanding that what is on the shelves in stores, what our doctors inject into us, and what we eat is not necessarily safe. But what can we do to combat the atrocities that big business and the government do to the common person? How does the regular guy win out over money? There's a momentum brewing, more people are learning for themselves what is toxic and what is safe, but in the meantime how do we make change? I can change what I bring into my home, but feel very impotent over the big changes that must take place to clean up our environment.

Truth be told I don't have much time for another book but I'm going to make an exception here.

And Tiffany, for real, thank you for bringing these topics and books to our attention. I've learned so much from you and I thank you.

I don't know if you realize how much you're touching and affecting (in a positive way) the parents who read your blog.

I havenèt read this particular book, I have however read many on the subject. I' ve been a vegitarian since I was 15...so that make 12 years now. And not because of the comun reasons.. because of the state of our foods, environment etc.. but in truth not ever our vegtables are safe. No matter how much the organic label made me feel safe, I had to realize that there where many more things I could do. Becoming a mother just reenerate the subject in my mind. If I can change myself, give an example, then I can change the world...one person at a time.

I found these amazing products online, products I would otherwise buy at a supermarket and spend tones of dollars on (we all know how much Organic/green can cost. In my search tireless search I also found a comunity of mothers dedicated to greener and healthier living. 11000 other moms just like me... http://www.themomteam.com/michjean

This is a very sad but true state of our world today. We as parents only know what we are told by advertisers, media, policiticians, unless we do our homework, this is not information they give out freely. Due to the chance they might loose some money. Tear. Please. This is the whole reason I started the business I did, with three children of my own, one with a seizure disorder. Natural, organic parenting is not hard, or even more expensive, if again you do your homework. But you cannot be lazy as a parent (relying on media and such), for your childrens sake. It is up to us to change the world for our children and their future generations.

We are finding more and more customers in our health food stores who are highly sensitive to environmental contaminants. Kids in particular seem to react to these hazards by way of intense allergies and general dis-ease.
