Kenny Chesney took the Mexican fisherman story and made it into a song – and I love it. I’ve never heard the story actually, other then the song I mean. I am heading to reserve this at the library now.

For the second time this week serendipity (or…perhaps…providence) has allowed me to stumble upon kind mentions of my first book.

Your thoughtful review was so well written and kind, I could not help but stop to say “Thank you” for your generosity and good words. The fact that you truly grasped our philosophy is apparent in your choice of excerpts, quotes and highlighted points. Yes, it’s true. Some people are disappointed in it because it does not tell you how to wring a dollar dry. Others walk away from it because it does not offer secret ways to “keep up with–or out-do–the Jones”. Happily, there are kindred souls (like you and your readers) who understand that all luxury, pleasure and happiness begin in the world of the mind (i.e., thought) by way of the art of appreciation.

You know, about a year ago, i decided to declutter. get rid of all the stuff that i didn’t need. and it was a lot! plus, i’ve also refrained from buying things that i simply don’t need. yeah, there’s tons out there but what do you really need. i have everything i need, and i love it. when i start to acquire stuff that isn’t necessary, it actually gets in the way and takes away from my luxury of simply enjoying what i have.

Thank you for writing this book review and sharing your thoughts. There is beauty all around us and yet we strive to find material things to give us warmth. We clutter our lives with things hoping they will give us happiness and security. We want freedom and yet the mentality of earning more will not help us achieve it. We seek the answers to life and yet it would appear they are right in front of us.

I’ve been living a relatively simple life and am somewhat of a minimalist. In part because I cherish the earth, nature and it’s resource (people included) and in part out of necessity from life circumstances. The growth, life experiences and memories has taught me what is important – my daughter, friends and family. The simple things I am able to dedicate time to (because I have it in this lifestyle) include writing (usually about green living on my website), song writing, playing music, reading, cooking, nature, community events and an endless list of things to do including the web.

So seek the simple life and you will find answers and peace.

Thank you for this. Great reminders here. I myself always ask myself before buying a few q’s. Do I need or want. Is it worth the time it takes me to make that money? do i have the time to wash/ organize/ store/ take care of it? Right now I am focused on cleaning out and organizing that which I have. Also who am I supporting? Walmart? I’d rather pay more to buy local. Often I find that something i wanted to buy is already here. Less is definitely more. More time to cherish with kids when less to do.
