I love strawberry plants. I did 5 of them in containers last year and never got one strawberry though. The birds and creatures ate them as soon as they were ripe. Oh well.

Love this post, we just started a strawberry patch and have watermelons, gourds and pumpkins my son is growing. He will be 2 this summer and I wanted to give him more to mingle with. Last year he ate nearly every raspberry we had, most off of the vine and the same with our cherry tomatoes. He even got my dad, a self proclaimed enemy of tomatoes, to try one after taking him back to the garden and picking one for him. He was very excited this year when we started getting things ready and started our seeds. I love that he is learning where food really comes from and enjoys it fully. He may be young but gets it and this year we got him his own garen tools and watering can which he uses. He even mastered the art of planting onion bulbs! I cna only hope our daughter will be as into it as her brother!

Love your site! Everyday I learn something new from your posts. We have strawberries in our yard underneath every fruit tree. Often the bugs get to them first so the kids will throw the "yucky" part back down into the dirt. Soon up comes another strawberry plant. Today I purchased strawberries from a local grower. After washing and cutting out the stem and mushy parts I decided to throw the trimmings out into the garden where I want more strawberries to grow. I can hardly wait to see if I get positive results and lots more strawberry plants for next year!
