My love of stargazing and astronomy as a 5th grader put me on the path of math and physics with the hope of becoming an astronomer. Thanks to encouraging physics teachers both in high school and in college, I never gave up when it got tough. Although my career plans diverged from the original astronomer plan, I did get to work at an observatory for a few summers as a graduate student before I found my true calling as a radiation oncology physicist. Encourage your girls to persevere and to not be intimidated by math!!! Remember : Physics is Fun! I love it! It's one of those activities that can be simple or complex and can advance solely based on your or your child's interest. We have a perfect spot in our driveway to lay down, and there's not too much light pollution here. Unfortunately, my children are very young and it doesn't get dark until after 10pm this time of year, but the Fall should be perfect! This is great! I love it!
