We are members of a CSA and I love everything about it: eating fresh food, supporting the local farmer, meeting new people with similar interests. To echo Nell above, I don't need a dehydrator...I'm in the market for a juicer!

Others don't understand why it's not just about "organic". Thanks for the easy to read explanation! At Mission: Clean Kids we know that looking at the whole picture is most important.

Very informative. We just joined a CSA here, Fortunatly for us we also have about four Farmers Markets so we can buy local foods as much as possible. The information that you gave in this post, everybody needs to be aware of. Thanks.

Great Post. So many people don't think about how far their food has traveled to make it to their table. I love supporting local CSA's, Farmer's Markets, and growing my own food. It just tastes so much better. :)

I've started getting into more raw eating and a lot more whole foods cooked/prepared fresh. While I'm not new to eating better, I am growing more and more diligent in keeping it going every day instead of "falling" off the "wagon" and eating junk for weeks before getting back on. Not only is that terrible for MY body but is terrible for my children. I've really turned a corner in the past few weeks and feel incredibly devoted to eating healthy. Now I just need a dehydrator!

My husband works for a CSA, and one of the benefits was a free weekly food share. It's been challenging, but fun, to learn to cook and preserve all of this food. If he one day finds a new job, i'll continue to get food shares, even though it's a lot of money up front. That big box of soooo-good-for-you food makes me happy. :)
