We had season passes to the zoo in DC when we lived there and the best part was that we could get into the zoo in Philly at a reduced rate when we visited my sister. Since we moved to North Carolina, my parents have gotten us passes to the local children's museum, and we definitely get our money's worth!

This would be perfect for me if I were closer to the zoo. I LOVE going to the zoo. I think these kinds of gifts are the best! They last way longer than most. :)

We give something like this - tickets to plays, sporting events, concerts, museum exhibits, etc. It's a way to keep the gift alive beyond Christmas morning.

Great idea to give passes. I'm not sure my family or friends would appreciate the zoo, but I'll have to check around and find out what they would like to do all year.

We're giving state parks passes this year! The best part is that we are asking they join us for a day at a park sometime in the coming year. Most of our family and friends like to camp, so my guess is that we will all enjoy the passes =)

I'm so glad that after giving zoo memberships as Christmas gifts to many a family, someone bought my husband and I one. My husband couldn't have been happier - his favorite parts are the reptiles (ugh) and the petting zoo (mine too.)

I usually switch up membership gifts. Like I"ll do the zoo one year and a different thing the next. That way it doesn't get a little "old" and they stop using their memberships. This year I'm so excited, We're giving one family a season's pass to their city pool = where they practically live all summer long. The city remolded it and it's almost like a mini waterpark.

FYI-- most zoo memberships are "reciprocal" meaning that the membership can be used at zoos across the country not just the "home" zoo! Unfortunatly our home zoo (Brookfield in Chicago) is not on the reciprocal list but still WELL worth the hundred dollars. It pays itself in 2 trips (family of 5 plus parking)and we go about a dozen times a year! Sounds like a bargain to me!!!
