Gardening and Homesteading Goals for 2015

Gardening and Homesteading Goals for 2015

Goals for 2015The gardening season has ended for 2014…for the most part. I still have a variety of peppers and some flowers doing well. I also have a cold frame with greens going strong but I have done a massive fall cleanup and most of my garden beds will rest until spring. With everything I learned this year I am already making plans for next!

My organic garden goals for 2015 are to grow everything I grew in 2014 and:

  • Make potato cages and grow alot more
  • Start my seedlings earlier!
  • Add leeks and brussels sprouts for fall/winter
  • Grow more carrots
  • Grow different pumpkin varieties (jarrahdale and lady godiva) and grow more
  • Add another raised bed and a hoop with a fabric covering
  • Add more herbs and veggies
  • Plant spring bulbs
  • Add another rain barrel

My homesteading goals for 2015:

  • Add bees/beehive
  • Start making homemade gingerale
  • Ferment fruits/veggies/juices with help from Oh Lardy’s Guide to Fermenting Fruits and Vegetables
  • Ramp up our aquaponics installation and add bass or tilapia to the mix
  • Make soap

What are your goals???

  1. I swear we’re soul sisters, Tiffany! My goals are very similar to yours for next year: add another raised bed with hoop covering, start seedlings earlier, add leeks to the list, do better at potato towers (didn’t get much this year), add beehives, add a rain barrel (have it, just haven’t installed it), grow herbs that are useful for healing salves, ferment fruits and veggies (have my crock, just need to get busy doing it!). I can’t wait to hear how everything goes for you! ~Alicia

    • I didn’t get many potatoes either. It totally bummed me out but I will make it my mission next year :)

Wow. I’m so impressed by your goals Tiffany. I need to come and live with you for a while! My goal for 2015 is to continue composting and not get freaked out by the smell or the fruit flies!

Wow — you’re way beyond me. I’ve just moved back from Cali and have to learn how to grow in this climate. My goal is to continue with organic but grow more than tomatoes, peas, lettuce, cukes and peppers. (Or at least in bigger qunatities!)

Wow, that is great. I don’t garden at all, so I am impressed by those who do.

I’ve always been interested in the homesteading idea, but I’ve never tried it. I think it would be so cool to be self-sufficient.

*sigh* I never get around to a food garden. I do want to get back to making bread more and just more from scratch cooking in general.
