How Moms Can Teach Kids to Save Electricity

By Guest 2 Comments

A guest post by Sam Peters Conserving electricity is a necessity for parents who want to save money. As a mom, you may be interested in finding a unique and innovative approach to getting your kids involved with helping you conserve electricity for the home. It is always a good idea to teach children the importance of saving electricity from a young age so that it is something they learn, understand, and continue to do even when they become adults. Turning Lights Off Turning the lights off in … [Read more...]

By Guest 5 Comments

Guest post by Debbie Steinberg Kuntz, founder & editor of Odyssey Outdoors.   If you want to know where your food comes from, there's no better way than to grow it yourself! That's just what we did with a group of families last weekend in the outdoor family group we formed about a year ago.  We followed these 10 easy steps. 1.     Gather supplies. We started with newspaper, some beautiful organic seeds that would grow in early spring in our area, organic potting soil, … [Read more...]

By Tiffany 7 Comments

I was completely shocked to read yesterday that a company actually plans to make perfumes for babies. WTH??? Babies already have such a sweet and unique smell. Why would you want your child to smell like the noxious perfume isle of a department store? Well, I guess this is a case of "to each their own right"? Well, no it shouldn't be in this case because perfumes are notorious for … [Read more...]

BabbaBox Fun for Kids

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

For adults you have the monthly Conscious Box (of which I am a huge fan) but I also recently came across a similar concept for kids, the BabbaBox. If you subscribe then you get a new box every month especially for kids with crafts and activities to keep them entertained and engaged for a few afternoons, and not glued to a TV screen. I like the concept for the obvious reasons... it encourages play, crafting, creativity, TV free play, ect. But I also like it because it gives busy moms, and moms … [Read more...]

It also contrasts with what is considered the "norm" nowadays. Kids in particular can be hard to transition away from processed, chemical laden, nutritionally deficient cooked foods. You have to get more creative than trail mix and salad to get the kids on board. With that in mind I have just … [Read more...]
