Which Candles Are Best for the Environment?

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

Candles are extremely popular due to their ambient lighting and delicious aromas. However, there is the question of whether or not candles are bad for the environment. If you’re worried about the environment and want to live a healthier life, but love candles, you may be concerned about their effects on global warming and pollution. The impact of a candle on the environment largely depends on its material composition, although no candle has a carbon footprint anywhere near the equivalent of a … [Read more...]

Facial Tissues With a Conscious

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

I am not a facial tissue consumer. We almost never, ever buy them. At home we opt for reusable cloth hankerchiefs. They are soft, easy to clean, and easy to always keep on hand when we need them. This is a practice I learned from my dad. He wore suits nearly every day and you would not find wadded up pieces of paper tissue in his pockets. He carried around a nice "hankie" at all times. Of course I did say we almost never buy facial tissues. There is one time each year when we do buy … [Read more...]

Eco Stars Recycled Crayons

By Tiffany 2 Comments

If given the choice I will usually opt for soy or beeswax crayons. The conventional ones made from petro products are not a favorite. I will usually make an exception for recycled crayon products though because you are buying used instead of new. The fact that Eco Stars are made from recycled materials, along with the fact that my youngest needs to work on his grasping skills according to his therapist at school, made me think this product might be a good fit for us. Theses crayons are melted … [Read more...]

Non Toxic Tots

By Tiffany 46 Comments

As parents become increasingly aware of all the potentially toxic products that are marketed to kids it only makes sense that some concerned parents would open stores to provide us with safe alternatives. One of those stores that I really like is Non Toxic Tots. And it just so happens that I have known the owner (online) for a couple years now and she and her store are pretty awesome. I think I first met her via a cloth diapering community and a co-op she ran helping me to get natural goods … [Read more...]

Nappy Balm and Sleepytime Bath

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

Aaah...the stuff that makes life easier. Two on my tops list this week are the Nappy Balm Protection and Sleepytime Bath from the Eco Store. My family has had a case of the sickies lately...some type of flu. Four of us, inlcuding me have had it and my two sons had some bowel issues that came with it too. My youngest, who is almost three and still wearing diapers (lazy mommy), got bad diaper rash. Nappy Balm Protection to the rescue! This stuff is divine! It is creamy white and feels like whipped … [Read more...]
