Gardening in June: Blackberries, Jalapenos, and Bell Peppers

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

June has been an exciting gardening month for me. It is a daily joy to go outside and see how things are growing and changing. Unless of course I go outside and see that squirrels have been eating my bell pepper plants, then I just want to go outside with a .22 and maybe have some squirrel stew for dinner. In lieu of that I have been making sure to spray them with an oil/cayenne pepper mixture and so far that seems to be working. I have already lost 4 of my 6 original bell pepper plants though. … [Read more...]

TGIF – Kettlebells, Natural Parks, and the Ethics of Meat

By Tiffany 8 Comments

TGIF! Have a great holiday weekend and spend lots of time hugging your babes and other loved ones. I am not religious so I tend to view this holiday as time I get to spend with my kiddos (and extended family) as they do something they love, like hunting for colorful eggs and getting some little treats. Whatever this season means for you... enjoy. I kicked off the weekend with a good CrossFit workout... rowing, running, burpees, situps, pushups, squats, rope climbing, kettelbell swings, and … [Read more...]

Are You Eating the 30 Healthiest Foods?

By Tiffany 29 Comments

Healthy eating is such a subjective thing. Or is it? Everyone has their own ideas of what is healthy. Many swear by tofu and I think it is a bad idea. Others think that fat is the devil and I think no such thing. Can we ever agree? Well, I do happen to agree for the most part with Real Simple magazine's list of 30 healthiest foods... not that they are the healthiest per say but it is a pretty good list of healthy foods. I thought it would be fun to go through their list and see how regularly my … [Read more...]

Love Me Some BabyLegs

By Tiffany 13 Comments

Here is a time tested and much loved product for ya. We started buying up these lucious leg warmers when my two youngest were pretty darn young: Now... nearly 4 years later we STILL love our Babylegs. Yesterday my daughter wore organic wool babylegs under a skirt to school. Today is an off-school day for her but she still came out sporting the babylegs... this time to keep her arms worm with a short sleeve tee. The color is called Mossy and they are organic too. I love that any of my kids … [Read more...]

Great American Backyard Campout

By Tiffany 5 Comments

Saturday June 27 is The Great American Backyard Camp Out sponsored by Green Hour. It would be a great date to take your whole family into the backyard and go camping! While camping away from home with kids can be daunting and even expensive when you consider gas and camping supplies, camping in your backyard is very do-able for most families. You don't even need a tent. If the weather is nice you can just sleep outside in sleeping bags or use fluffy comforters and pillows. If you want some … [Read more...]
