I recently read an article about a new term for some men called Lumbersexual. I got a real kick out of it because it fits my husband to a tee. The definition is something along the lines of a metro-sexual who has the need to hold on to some outdoor based rugged-ness, and a finely trimmed beard. Introducing City Kids to Mother Nature
Exposing our kids to nature and outdoor play is pretty easy if you live in a rural area. My first kiddo was raised for five years mountainside in Arizona with hundreds of acres of state land all around us. Our biggest concern was not making sure he got acquainted with Mother Nature but rather making sure Mother Nature's wondrous rattlesnakes didn't bite him and that he didn't fall down an abandoned mine shaft. Intak Water Bottle by Thermos
I have always had a favorite water bottle and his name is Mr. Klean Kanteen. But step aside Klean because you may have been replaced. Okay maybe not replaced, but you will now have to share your coveted position in my cupboard. Make room for the sleek and ingenious Intak by Thermos. I am VERY big on reading. In fact just last week I read 14 books. I was a pretty active kid but if I wasn't out rollerblading, camping, swimming, or skiing as a tween and teen, I had my nose in a book. I married a non-reader though. Hubby reads maybe 1 or 2 books a year. :( When I had kids I knew it was super important to get them excited about reading and luckily it has worked so far. My kids are crazy about books.
