On June 18th, along with 20+ other green bloggers I am kicking off a Go Green, Get Fit Challenge. The idea behind it is to join together and support each other in making a commitment to fitness and since we also happen to care about sustainability issues we will be considering the impact of this process too. We moms spend so much take taking care of our families and our household responsibilities that sometimes self care gets lost in the mix. As I have discovered over the past year or so though, … [Read more...]
TGIF – Kettlebells, Natural Parks, and the Ethics of Meat
TGIF! Have a great holiday weekend and spend lots of time hugging your babes and other loved ones. I am not religious so I tend to view this holiday as time I get to spend with my kiddos (and extended family) as they do something they love, like hunting for colorful eggs and getting some little treats. I kicked off the weekend with a good CrossFit workout... rowing, running, burpees, situps, pushups, squats, rope climbing, kettelbell swings, and … [Read more...]
TGIF – CrossFit, Calories, Books, and Diaper Free Babies
What a week! TGIF! A had a health hiccup recently that threw me for a loop but I was able to get things under control. It is nice to imagine we look that peaceful though. ;) I have actually suffered from insomnia for a few years now and it has gotten better after I started exercising 4-5 days a week (about a year ago) and went paleo (about 4 months … [Read more...]
Feeling Hardcore Today or Why I Joined a CrossFit Gym
I joined a second gym this week. Sounds kind of crazy but I badly wanted to try CrossFit and you typically need to find a specialized CrossFit gym or "box" for that. My other gym is pretty darn awesome and I still plan to go there three times a week but they are pretty vanilla and just don't have kettlebells, rings, jump boxes, or medicine balls. I toyed with the idea of buying some kettlebells but heck good ones can cost $85 a pop. Plus I know myself well enough to know that I will not work out … [Read more...]
