Fiberlicious Muffins With Apple and Flax

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

Here is a recipe that I made this morning. Not only are these muffins perfect for breakfast but they are sooo yummy and good for you too. They are a great source of whole grains and high fiber, and the flaxseed provides Omega-3 oils. They were a big hit with my whole family. Even when the kids were little they scarfed these down. Fiberlicious Flax Apple Muffins 1 cup Multigrain cereal with Flaxseed and Quinoa ( I use Hodgson Mills brand) 1 cup organic, unbleached flour 1 Tbsp. baking … [Read more...]

Butter Ball Cookies Recipe

By Tiffany 13 Comments

A couple years ago I used to make rolled oat peanut butter balls for my kids. I decided to try to make them with almond butter and see how they turned out. They are a nice, not to sweet treat. They taste like granola and I think they would be even better with a few dates or raisins and cacao nibs in the mix too. Yum! These are not raw since rolled oats are not raw. They have been heated to high temps to flatten and then cut them. That is why I am not an oatmeal fan...it has been cooked not … [Read more...]

Omega3 and DHA from Algae Instead of Fish Oils

By Tiffany 14 Comments

Last week I posted about fish oils and why I feel they are superior to flax oils for Omega3 and DHA supplementation. With all the research that has been done into our body's ability to convert the flax into useful DHA I still think fish oils are superior for that purpose. Of course flax seeds are still beneficial on many levels. They just may not be the best source for DHA. Fish oils admittedly have their own issues though. For one, vegans won't touch them. ;) Also a diet of fish, flesh or … [Read more...]

Berry Smooth Summer Smoothie

By Tiffany 7 Comments

No doubt I have mentioned before that I am a smoothie freak. I am "trying" to cut down to just one a day because I can really go overboard, especially in the summer. I made the following smoothie this morning and it was quite delicious. Tomorrow I think I might add some ground flax seed to it. 1 and 1/2 cups vanilla almond milk 1 cup frozen mixed berries (I used raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries) 1 cup frozen strawberries 1-2 drops of vanilla extract 1 tablespoon vegetable greens … [Read more...]
