Here is a recipe that I made this morning. Not only are these muffins perfect for breakfast but they are sooo yummy and good for you too. They are a great source of whole grains and high fiber, and the flaxseed provides Omega-3 oils. They were a big hit with my whole family. Even when the kids were little they scarfed these down. Fiberlicious Flax Apple Muffins 1 cup Multigrain cereal with Flaxseed and Quinoa ( I use Hodgson Mills brand) 1 cup organic, unbleached flour 1 Tbsp. baking … [Read more...]
Three Green Laundry Products You Need To Try
"Green laundry" does not refer to what happens to your whites when you wash them with colors. Or maybe that is only my laundry. We have three people in the house (including myself) whose fave color is some shade of green or aqua. Green laundry actually means eco-friendly washing practices that emphasize biodegradability and less waste. Why is this important? Well it matters what we pour down the pipes and put against our skin and many conventional laundry products are heavy on the toxics. … [Read more...]
Urban Farm Magazine Deal
I must confess that I have a bit of a magazine obsession. I LOVE magazines and last year I went kinda nuts with deals on subscriptions. I ended up with way too many magazines arriving in my mailbox but it was a valuable lesson for me on what I actually read and what I don't. Parenting magazines, no. Better Homes, no. Ladies Home Journal, no. Why did I even order those??? Mags like Oxygen, Health, Country Living, Mother Earth News, Mary Jane's Farm, and Hobby Farms...yes, yes, yes. I keep them … [Read more...]
Flip & Tumble Reusable Produce Bags

I have some bags like these myself (though I needed to get more!) because they are perfect for Farmer's market season and shopping the bulk bins at natural grocery stores. Instead of your market vendor bagging those yummy green beans or cucumbers in a plastic bag you can just hand them one of these. You can also fill one up with bulk grains, nuts, or seeds from the bins at Whole Foods. These bags are … [Read more...]
Greener Laundry Products
The above picture shows some of the greener laundry products I have been testing lately. Laundry is one of those chores I absolutely despise. I wish green gadgets could change that but they don't. The only thing they do is make the process a little more planet friendly and that at times seems like a stretch in my opinion. Most "green" laundry detergents come in plastic bottles and that isn't so green at all. Soap nuts have to travel from around the world and they don't last long. Lots of laundry … [Read more...]
