An Oldie but Goodie – Drying Racks

By Tiffany 4 Comments

All summer long (and now well into the Fall) I have been using the power of wind and solar to dry a large portion of my clothes and bath towels thanks to a classic drying rack. I love the fact that I have saved pennies by not using my energy hog clothes dryer but I also just get such joy out of seeing clothes and towels blowing in the wind outside. Maybe my view of clothes on the line is a bit romantic but I always loved my summers at Grandmas's farm, helping my mom putting clothing and bed … [Read more...]

My Week With the Mitsubishi i Electric Car

By Tiffany 5 Comments

A few months back I did a giveaway/promotion to celebrate the imminent release of a groundbreaking electric car, the Mitsubishi i. After researching the car for that article I was super excited because it looked as though greener cars, and electric in particular, were starting to become more affordable and within the reach of average folks. The starting MSRP is $29,125 and the net MSRP* after a federal tax credit is a very affordable $21,625 for the standard ES model and only $23,625 for the SE … [Read more...]

thredUp – Online Children’s Clothing Consignment

By Tiffany 3 Comments

I am a hard core thrifter and second hand shopper. Just about all of our clothing, for all five of us, (minus socks and underwear) comes from second hand stores or consignment shops locally. The exception to this is that the husband and I will often get a limited amount of fitness clothing and gear new, since it is so hard to find used, in good condition. I have yet to see a pair of Fila Skeletoes or Five Fingers at a thrift store ya know? Depending on what I need I choose the shop that will … [Read more...]

Make It Paleo Cookbook Review

By Tiffany 2 Comments

This cookbook sat on my Amazon wishlist for quite awhile. I kept resisting the urge to buy because it was nearly $20. That isn't expensive really just in that area where you almost have free shipping and yet anything else worth ordering will put you over the required $25 and then you feel guilty for ordering stuff you may not need. For some reason my city library system does not carry it either. So, Make It Paleo sat lonely on my wishlist while I scoured the Internet for paleo recipes. Then I … [Read more...]

15 Things I do to Save Money

By Tiffany 13 Comments

As I was compiling a list of 15 things I do to save money I was amazed how many of these things I do to further my causes as a natural and green mother. 1. I cook from scratch. 2. I buy foods and home products in bulk. 3. I make my son's school lunches. 4. I use cloth diapers and usually sewed them myself. 5. We do crafty things and DIY projects at home. For instance, we make our own play dough. 6. I shop at garage sales. 7. I make my own household products or beauty … [Read more...]
