Unique and Green Christmas Gifts for Kids

By Tiffany 11 Comments

There are lots and lots of green toys on the market. I have posted about hundreds of options over the years and I have a constantly updated Green Christmas Gift Guide that highlights many of them. I like green toys from small family owned businesses and I like to support the larger companies who happen to make sustainable toys. More and more though I look for things that are unique and not likely to be found on any bestseller list on Amazon. Here are some of the gems I found this year at one of … [Read more...]

Eco Friendly and Sustainable Dollhouses

By Tiffany 10 Comments

One of the latest trends in greener, more planet friendly toys is the surge of sustainable dollhouses on the market. One reason for this, I think, is because wood dollhouses already have a HUGE advantage over cheapy plastic ones... they are more attractive and more like a real home. It is rare that I see a plastic dollhouse that actually catches my eye these days and I can't say that for all plastic toys in general. But when it comes to doll houses and play kitchens... wood is far more … [Read more...]

Green Tips for Safer Christmas Toys

By Tiffany 3 Comments

Above: My daughter is playing with her Spellmaster by Tag Toys Is Christmas on the brain yet? Every year parents hear about toy recalls and the latest toys to have failed safety inspections and expectations. Tighter regulations passed but that ultimately ended up meaning we had fewer options and the huge corporations making the toys typically recalled got free passes to go about business as usual. Cause you know... safety legislation is too tedious for mega corporations to deal with. From lead … [Read more...]

Marble Run – Natural Toy Fun

By Tiffany 11 Comments

I don't know about you but I HATE walking down the toy isles in stores. I know all the plastic is not healthy for my kids or the planet but the flashy, techno toys can suck just about any kid in. My 3 year old son for instance is all about robots these days. I am not quite sure how that happened but since Transformers (which he has not seen) is all the rage these days he cannot help but be over the moon for the robots he sees everywhere. Now he is the proud owner of a few robot toys. But still … [Read more...]

Natural Toys and Creative Play

By Tiffany 8 Comments

Children today are used to the more technical toys that are designed to “do” something. Many of these toys simply entertain them and have little to no practical or educational value. With these toys, you can push a button to make them walk, talk, or light up. The flashy lights and noises mesmerize but are these good toys for them to have? Children have a natural desire to explore, discover, and experience things for themselves. Your child should have the ability to create their own play … [Read more...]
