Living the Green

By Tiffany 4 Comments

I don't typically shop at WalMart but as with most conventional stores there are usually a couple things I might need or buy there, even if the bulk of my shopping is done elsewhere. There are two items I might go to WalMart for. The first is organic coconut sugar since it is $1.30ish less than my regular grocer, for the exact same brand/size. I don't use it often but there is at least one recipe I make once or twice a month that tastes best when I use coconut sugar and I cannot stand to pay … [Read more...]

10 Ways for Tweens and Teens to Go Green at School

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

One of the most pressing reasons that so many parents seek to live a greener lifestyle is because they are mindful of the fact that the earth is an inheritance left to the children. What we do or do not do today, can and will be their problem to face tomorrow. This is why raising green kids is so important. Even at a young age they can be made aware of the issues facing their generation. Tween and teens are closer to their inheritance than younger children and they are also more aware of their … [Read more...]

Green Games for Earth Day and Beyond

By Tiffany 2 Comments

Looks like I have some new games to add to my mammoth post on green board games. Educational Insights was kind enough to send me a trio of their educational, green games for my children and I to play with for Earth Week and beyond. All 3 games are printed with vegetable ink on recycled paper. They have wood and paper pieces, no plastic and they are really rather sparse in gadgets and "stuff" overall. They are very much minimalist games. Another plus is that all three have a nature theme going … [Read more...]

10 Household Items You Can Reuse Before Tossing

By Tiffany 16 Comments

A big part of green living that gets overlooked in favor of recycling is the simple concept of reusing. Yet the slogan is Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The first step in greener living is to reduce the amount of stuff we buy and consume in the first place. The second is to find clever ways to make those initial items last longer or find new uses for them.. aka reusing them. Then AFTER those first two steps we try to find a way to recycle the things we can't use any longer. Here are ten things you can … [Read more...]

Green Weekly Planners & Calendars

By Tiffany 3 Comments

It is the time of year when we might buy a new weekly planner and calendar. This is the first year that I am sporting a  GREEN one thanks to Sarah Pinto. Not only is this a GREAT, stylish planner it is eco friendly and made by a mom of two. Sarah wanted to make a fun, stylish planner that would fit well inside a purse for those that like the visual reminder of a weekly planner. These planners measure 5” by 7” and are made with high-quality recycled paper, soy-based ink and they are printed and … [Read more...]
