Silence Won’t Finish the Fight Against Cancer

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

The big C. Cancer. I have quite a bit to say about cancer actually because it became a big part of my life 6 years ago next month. I clearly remember the moment when they told me it was cancer that had been making so sick for he previous months. I was so relieved to finally KNOW why I was so sick that I think my doctors thought I was not facing up to facts. I had stage three cancer for sure and they feared that it might have spread to my liver. I went under the knife knowing that I might wake up … [Read more...]

Summer Co-Ops – What Are They?

By Tiffany 1 Comment

This is the time of year when you are bombarded with all kinds of local summer camp offerings. Summer time isn't vacation time for many parents and you either have to find ways to keep kids occupied or maybe you just want to occasionally. No parent wants to hear the dreaded "Mom, I'm bored!" from their kids. I am one of those mean moms that tells my kids to get creative and use their imagination if they are bored. I don't feel as though it is my job to entertain them. Yet, I do want to … [Read more...]

Detroit Child Vaccinated at School Without Parental Consent

By Tiffany 16 Comments

This news story has me absolutely FUMING and it has become clear that I need to have a discussion with my kids about what they need to do if their school even DARE to try this. Apparently a 14 year old child in Detroit was suddenly pulled from her class without warning or explanation. They took her to the nurses office and gave her four different vaccine shots. They never asked for parental permission and in fact they ignored a signed directive on file from the girl's mother to never provide … [Read more...]

Storytime with Barefoot Books

By Tiffany 5 Comments

I have reviewed Barefoot Books many times over the years. I simply LOVE the company and the books. They are well written, well illustrated, and the stories are perfect for parents trying to raise cultural awareness or eco consciousness in their kids. Children of different races are all well represented... which is important to me and the themes are so important usually... adventure, nature, friendship, and taking care of animals and earth. My kids and I recently got some more of their … [Read more...]

Mama Knows Breast

By Tiffany 31 Comments

I don't really talk about breastfeeding all that much on this blog but I really should because it is one of the most natural and "green" things you can do as a mom. I have breastfed three kids now. My oldest only got 4 months of breast milk because I had to return to work and my place of employment was a big corporate office with a shared bathroom and my office was all glass in front. I would have had no place to pump so he was weaned a lot sooner then I would have liked. I STILL feel guilty … [Read more...]
