Back to School Shopping for all Seasons

By Tiffany 5 Comments

It’s that time.  Time to go back to school and get all of the supplies you will need for the coming school year. It might be tempting to buy clothes for all weather scenarios that might arise during the school year. If you did that, though, it would probably be a mistake. You’ll just end up spending more money than you need to. In fact if you wait until the back to school season to do most or all of your school related shopping then you ARE spending too much money. I know, I know everyone is … [Read more...]

It’s National Clean Out Your Purse Day!

By Tiffany 3 Comments

Did you know that there was a National Clean Out Your Purse Day? Neither did I, until I saw a few tweets about it this morning. Ever the joiner I decided to get busy with the purse cleaning outing. It probably would have been far more useful to me if it were national scrub your kitchen floor day since mine is currently sticky as all get out but I guess perhaps I need to drum up the motivation for that one on my own today. Anyway my purse is actually in pretty decent condition. Its part of … [Read more...]

thredUp – Online Children’s Clothing Consignment

By Tiffany 3 Comments

I am a hard core thrifter and second hand shopper. Just about all of our clothing, for all five of us, (minus socks and underwear) comes from second hand stores or consignment shops locally. The exception to this is that the husband and I will often get a limited amount of fitness clothing and gear new, since it is so hard to find used, in good condition. I have yet to see a pair of Fila Skeletoes or Five Fingers at a thrift store ya know? Depending on what I need I choose the shop that will … [Read more...]

My Friday the 13th Baby

By Tiffany 2 Comments

Six years ago today on Friday the 13th I got the most wonderful gift... my last child, Mr. Parker. For years we called him Parkoo because that is what my then one year old daughter called him. Despite the fact that I was nursing him in tandem with his sister he was still the fattest little breastfed baby ever. Scrumptious! Of all my kids he has been the easiest and he does things in his own time and way. He hated co-sleeping and wanted to sleep in a crib until he hit the ripe old age of three, … [Read more...]

Green Back to School Ideas

By Tiffany 9 Comments

Getting ready to go back to school can bring a lot of mixed emotions; grief over the loss of summer, relief for the parents, dread for the kids, and it can have some green-minded parents shaking their head over the sheer amount of items (clothes, shoes, school supplies) that their kids seem to need to buy – and re-buy, each and every year.  Even when you homeschool you typically still buy some new stuff around this time because this is when it is readily available and on sale. Is there a way to … [Read more...]
