Living the Green

By Tiffany 4 Comments

I don't typically shop at WalMart but as with most conventional stores there are usually a couple things I might need or buy there, even if the bulk of my shopping is done elsewhere. There are two items I might go to WalMart for. The first is organic coconut sugar since it is $1.30ish less than my regular grocer, for the exact same brand/size. I don't use it often but there is at least one recipe I make once or twice a month that tastes best when I use coconut sugar and I cannot stand to pay … [Read more...]

Are You ‘Greener Than Thou’?

A new ad video from Clorox Green Works (see it below) sparked some great conversations on Facebook recently. Some green moms are feeling attacked by the video because they feel it makes our concern for environmental issues seem more than a little nutty. Others commented that it simply highlights yet another high standard that moms must live up to or they will be made to feel that they are not good enough. I think all points were valid and there is no denying that the video is a bit condescending … [Read more...]

Embarrassed by Poop Talk? Well, Get With the Program!

By Tiffany 9 Comments

Just had to share a video I spotted this weekend called Poopin 2.0. I have watched a lot of Underground Wellness videos but I never saw this one and he is talking about a HUGELY important subject. I used to be one of those people that was squeamish and embarrassed to talk about poop but getting colon cancer at age 28 kind of cures you of that. Watch the video and learn. It is kind of colorful and may make you uncomfortable but get over it! I use an overturned bucket in my bathroom, kind … [Read more...]

LunaPanties Review

By Tiffany 13 Comments

As indicated in my round up of greener menstrual products I am not a fan of the mainstream menstrual products for women. Paper and plastic pads and tampons just aren't good options for the planet nor for a woman's comfort. More than anything I think those mainstream options allow us to distance ourselves from the process as much as possible and not take responsibility for it. Either that or it is just pure convenience... aka why wash cloth pads or rinse out a Diva Cup in soapy water and get your … [Read more...]

Family Cloth – Beyond Toilet Paper

By Tiffany 61 Comments

Remember our discussion about toilet paper awhile back? The fluffy white stuff is generally very bad for the planet. Recycled TP is better and is what we buy as a family. Although in the back of my mind I knew that even recycled TP was not the BEST option for a green family... but the alternative known as "family cloth" really kind of grossed me out. And no it wasn't really rational because I have no issue with cloth baby wipes and cloth diapers. When some of my lovely readers commented that … [Read more...]
