I Want Safer Products When I Visit the Store

By Tiffany 6 Comments

When you walk down the isles of many grocers and retailers you will likely be overwhelmed with all the product choices you have. You may walk into the store with the idea to buy a bottle of laundry detergent but that becomes difficult when you realize you have 100+ product options for something that essentially performs the same function...cleaning your clothes. As if that wasn't already headache inducing you also need to be aware that many of those products mat not be a safe choice to … [Read more...]

My Week With the Mazda 3i

By Tiffany 6 Comments

I had the pleasure of rolling out in yet anther green(er) car this week. Unlike the last, which was all electric, the Mazda 3i is a greener choice because it has great fuel economy. This of course makes it a great option for anyone who wants to feel better about their time spent behind the wheel. That would be me...how about you? As I have mentioned before, I am researching cars so that I know what I will want to get when my 13 year Oldsmobile sedan kicks the bucket. I love the idea of … [Read more...]

Ways to Channel Our ‘Inner Lorax’ at Home

By Tiffany 1 Comment

So have you seen The Lorax yet? If so, then you know that it is fodder for lots of conversations within your family about environmentalism and how to put into practice Lessons With The Lorax. The movie is phenomenal and fun but the subject matter is serious and there is no time like the present to work together as a family to do your part and speak for the trees, and the air, and the waterways, and all things Mother Earth. The Lorax movie just brings us a fun way to launch into it with renewed … [Read more...]

Why Minimalist Parenting?

By Tiffany 6 Comments

What is it about being an attached family that lends itself to a minimalist parenting style? Are you criticized by others wondering why your children don’t “have the hottest new item?” I hope this post is not too redundant since I have addressed this subject many times before. My own love of minimalism and going minimalist with kids probably stems from a few different things. First would be my desire to live green. Consumption of less stuff and reusing what you have instead of buying new … [Read more...]

Introducing City Kids to Mother Nature

By Tiffany 7 Comments

Exposing our kids to nature and outdoor play is pretty easy if you live in a rural area. My first kiddo was raised for five years mountainside in Arizona with hundreds of acres of state land all around us. Our biggest concern was not making sure he got acquainted with Mother Nature but rather making sure Mother Nature's wondrous rattlesnakes didn't bite him and that he didn't fall down an abandoned mine shaft. Then we moved to a working farm in Ohio and my kids (two by then) loved that. But … [Read more...]
