I recently read the book Real Solutions to Children’s Health by Anne Arsenault. What I really liked about this book is that it is small in size and packed full of information. There is no wordy intro about why you need the book or all the problems that face children today. There is really no opportunity to be board to tears in between important points. It felt as though I was reading the cliff notes of a much larger book with all the important facts and details set aside and highlighted and as a busy mom, I REALLY like that.
It is a powerhouse of alternative health strategies for children. The first couple of chapters discuss diet and what foods could potentially be causing health and behavioral problems and what foods could be sorely lacking from their diet. Also discussed is the prevalence of allergies and other sensitivities, supplements, and guidelines for alternative therapies. That pretty much sums up part one.
Part Two gets down to specific issues that children may be facing and natural and alternative ways to deal with them. Topics include ADD, asthma, learning disabilities, cold and flu, eczema, thrush, head lice, and dozens more. The book doesn’t waste any time….you have the specific ailment and then you have bulleted lists of ways to deal with them….concise, informative, and easy.
It is a real time saver for busy moms and good quick reference book. It is also written by certified nutritional consultant and parent of two who has years of experience dealing with these health issues in children. Thanks Anne for giving me the opportunity to read it! It is a good book to have in our “natural” family library.
