Easy Crock Pot Pumpkin Puree Recipe

By Tiffany 12 Comments

A few days ago I got a hankering for pumpkin soufflé. I haven't had a soufflé in years and even then it was a savory mushroom soufflé, not a dessert. Yet for some reason I just had to make one. The recipe called for canned pumpkin puree of course but I try to limit what we eat out of a can (BPA yo!) and would've had to make a special trip to the store. The store where I can buy organic pumpkin puree is even farther. So I decided to make my own puree using two pie pumpkins that had been sitting … [Read more...]

Creating a Real Foods Kitchen

By Tiffany 26 Comments

I got a great email question from a reader this week and decided to answer it on the blog. I think more and more people are wanting to transition from the Standard American Diet and easily available processed food to real, healthy, homemade goodness. The issue of course is that we find ourselves unprepared to cook real food because we are so used to heat and serve style meals. When we want to cook and bake from scratch we need the right tools so that we can stick with his new lifestyle and not … [Read more...]

Raise Baby Green and Save Money Too

By Tiffany 21 Comments

With a pregnancy often times comes the realization that babies are expensive. But is that really true? Does having a baby automatically mean you have to kiss your money goodbye? In my opinion the answer is NO. Green moms are way ahead of the curve when it comes to raising baby on the cheap. The old saying applies equally to "stuff" we accumulate when raising children... "Use it Up, Wear It Out, Make It Do, or Do Without". There is no reason we need to fall victim to the marketing hype that … [Read more...]

Breastfeeding Is Green – Tips Too

By Tiffany 15 Comments

World Breastfeeding Week is coming in August. The goal is too bring awareness to breastfeeding which in actuality seems kinda silly to me. Moms have two feeding implements on their chest at all times and we have to have a national awareness week to make them aware of what they are for?? Hmmm. With the advent of baby bottles and formula feeding it seems breastfeeding has taken a back seat but there are probably hundreds of reasons why it should get the attention it deserves. I truly believe that … [Read more...]

When Your Parenting Style Goes Against the Grain

By Tiffany 59 Comments

I recently read an excellent article in a parenting magazine. I related deeply to an article on "Being a Parenting Original". I have often times been made to feel that I my methods of parenting are kind of kooky and bizarre. I have been relegated to that alternative group often referred to as hippie, crunchy, granola, or in some cases just plain weird. I am a true parenting original and yes in the beginning it was hard to feel different but now my confidence in my choices is solid and strong and … [Read more...]
