Are You A Supermom in the Kitchen?

By Tiffany 6 Comments

Getting children to eat healthy foods with lots of fresh fruit, veggies, and greens is often times no easy task. Many children just aren't adventurous when it comes to food. It is also hard for us moms when so many of the foods children gravitate to these days are not the healthiest options. Why would they want to try that veggie omelet you made with pastured eggs and those funny things called leeks when the Leprechaun on TV has a more "charming" breakfast in mind for them. Add to this the fact … [Read more...]

Homemade Fruit Fly Trap

By Tiffany 4 Comments

When you eat a lot of fresh fruit and produce you tend to see lots of fruit flies hanging around your house. My husband insists that there have to be eggs on the fruit and that is how they get into the house. I prefer to believe that the little guys can smell the ripe fruit from miles away and sneak inside the house to feast. Who wants to imagine they are buying fruit with egg sacs all over it??? Yuck! Either way it is gross to walk by your bowl of apples or bananas (or whatever fruit you like … [Read more...]

An Organic Earth Day Feast with Cascadian Farm

By Tiffany 44 Comments

A few weeks back Cascadian Farm asked me to participate in an all organic Earth Day feast celebration. My mission was simply to create an Earth Day feast, or rather a feast worthy of Earth Day since I would have to do it earlier in the month, and use organic foods. To facilitate they sent me an Earth Day Celebration Kit with Cascadian Farms products and coupons. So of course I decided to incorporate Cascadian Farm foods wherever I could. In honor of the warmer weather of late I decided to go … [Read more...]

The Fruit Guys – Fresh Fruit Delivery

By Tiffany 2 Comments

All summer long I opted out of my weekly delivery box of farm fresh veggies and fruit. During the late spring and summer it is all too easy to make a weekly trip to the farmer's market instead but I have missed that delivery box sitting on my step every Friday afternoon. When it arrived my kids would dive in and exclaim over everything in it. Its just food (and we pay for it) but it really feels like you got a wonderful present. We are lucky that we have this option because there are any who … [Read more...]

A Pantry Eating Challenge

By Tiffany 11 Comments

Part of being a savvy mom means shopping for deals and buying in bulk. This can be especially true of certain health foods because they cost more, and buying in bulk may be one of the few ways we can bring prices down. That five pound bag of raw organic almonds is none too cheap but perhaps it is a bit easier to digest when you buy a 25 pound bag and do the math. The problem with bulk buying and shopping for deals and sales is that you may end up with a fridge and pantry stuffed beyond their … [Read more...]
