Balancing pH with the Right Foods & Alkaline Water

By Tiffany 3 Comments

As I have mentioned before my “healthy diet” ideals are varied and spread out among numerous ideologies and theories. I cherry pick the things that appeal to me and work for me and I drop the things that don't work so well. For instance I started out liking the WAPF way of eating but kind of moved away from it as I narrowed in on a grain free, dairy free diet. Yet I still love the bone broth, probiotics, and organ meats they promote so heavily. I like the variety of veggies and plant based foods … [Read more...]

10 Things You Can Do Every Day to Get Happy and Stay Healthy

By Tiffany 10 Comments

I just got home from a vigorous CrossFit workout. When I walked in the door my hubby was just about to take off for the golf course but he always asks how my workout was. Today I think he was a little taken aback by my enthusiastic "Awesome!" It was a really tough workout and we had four mini WODs today (WOD=workout of the day). I did squats, pushups, mountain climbers, rope climbing, medball presses, medball wall touches, 100 meter sprints, calf jumps, supermen, bicycles, rowing, sprinters, hip … [Read more...]

Cold School Remedies for Winter Illness

By Tiffany 13 Comments

So why is it that we think winter weather means getting sick? That whole idea that cold causes illness is just an old wives tale but yet we do seem to get more illnesses in the cold weather months. Why is that? Well, I guess it could be due to the fact we are less active in winter. We don't get as much fresh air and sunlight, our diets are usually lacking in fresh fruits and veggies and packed with more cooked foods and baked items. More baking could mean more white flour and white sugar which … [Read more...]

By Tiffany 5 Comments

It's tempting to reach for the cartons of ice cream when you want a cool treat for a hot summer day and certainly for once in a while, it won't hurt. But if your kids are anything like mine... they play so hard outside all day long the requests for cool treats are quite frequent and thus healthier options are important. Here are some ideas. Frozen Fruit * Blueberries, strawberries, grapes, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, and pineapple make great snacks right out of the freezer. You can … [Read more...]

Preserve Colanders – Recycled and BPA Free

By Tiffany 2 Comments

All this week I have been using a Preserve colander in the kitchen. There is just no better kitchen gadget than a colander for washing all the fresh fruits and veggies we eat. Our colanders also do double duty as produce bowls on the counter when they are not in use. I am loving my Preserve colander too. Preserve is no stranger company to me. I am already a big fan of their toothbrushes. What I love, love, love about Preserve... other than their fantastically designed products... is the fact … [Read more...]
