The Story of Our Toxic Food System

By Tiffany 6 Comments

The graphic below should be a huge eye opener for anyone who eats. Yeah, everyone. Our food system has grown so toxic that we have worry about far more than calories and nutrients. Now we have to worry about hormone disruptors, neurodevelopmental deficits, and cancer...stemming from our food. Often times we see factory farms buy out the operations of family farmers and yet these farms still like to market themselves as local, family, salt of the earth farms when they are anything but. Can a once … [Read more...]

Pura Bottles for Adults and Littles Alike

By Tiffany 19 Comments

Reusable bottles are a big factor in our home. My husband and I use ours daily at the gym and as CrossFitters we have pretty high standards. We aren't going to go with single use plastic bottles ever and some of the more flimsy plastic and stainless bottles might be crushed in class. We opt to go with high quality, wide mouth stainless steel bottles. I am not opposed to glass bottles (I have several) just don't want to see them broken in a fitness class. Of late I have been using my hot pink … [Read more...]

Xtrema Healthy Cookware

By Tiffany 6 Comments

In my post on Healthy Cookware I mentioned that I was trying a new-to-me brand of safer pots and pans called Xtrema by Ceramcor. They sent me a skillet a few weeks back and I have now had a chance to use it in the kitchen. Their pans are high temperature ceramic that is non-scratch and easy to clean. I don't see a non-stick claim on their site but in my opinion they are very much non-stick. They can be used on stove top, oven, under broiler, freezer, frig, microwave and on a barbeque grill. The … [Read more...]

Healthier Pots and Pans in the Kitchen

By Tiffany 19 Comments

Most natural mamas are concerned with cooking or creating the healthiest meals possible. We may have our own ideas of what constitutes the optimal diet.. macrobiotic, vegan, vegetarian, raw, nourishing traditions, primal... but most of us all have a basic start place in creating our meals and that place is usually with good quality pots and pans. Okay maybe not so much if you are 100% raw. ;) There is much more to consider when buying pots and pans beside how well they heat food, how easy … [Read more...]

Glass Baby Bottles

By Tiffany 29 Comments

A lot of natural moms have asked me in the last few months what they can do to avoid using plastic baby bottles. I usually tell them that they can always go with the old standard....glass baby bottles. Nowadays they are super cute and they are actually much safer than plastic when you consider that plastic can leach chemicals. When heated, five of the most popular brands of polycarbonate -- the clear, shatterproof plastic used in baby bottles -- leached bisphenol A at levels that have been … [Read more...]
