Water Filtration Systems for the Home and Why We NEED Them

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

The water industry is a booming business right now. Portable water pitchers, under the sink water filtration systems, and bottled water are abundant. Because it is such a big business it can be easy to kind of push the marketing hype out of our minds and stick to our tap water. We have cheap accessible water flowing into our homes every day so it can be downright annoying to constantly hear how we need to buy more "stuff" or buy bottled water to ensure we have clean and safe water to drink. Add … [Read more...]

Restore Clean Water System

By Tiffany 8 Comments

For the past few months we have been using the Restore Clean Water System. It is a $100 system that I happened to see on Amazon this morning at a 68% discount. Wahoo! After the water filters through the pitcher you connect it to an outlet and a UV light then purifies and removes 99.9999% of bacteria, 99.99% of viruses and 99.95% of microbial cysts. The pitcher is also BPA … [Read more...]

Ask NatureMom – Laundry Baskets

By Tiffany 8 Comments

This is a somewhat regular feature I added awhile back to organize reader questions. I have a build up in my email inbox so I am doing some virtual housekeeping now. Reader Jen: My plastic laundry baskets are falling apart and I really need to replace them. Any ideas for a great eco-friendly solution? I haven't thought of anything I can re-purpose for hauling my clean laundry upstairs and I'm not sure where to look (preferably locally) for something made with sustainable materials and … [Read more...]

Eco-Friendly Friday: Ditch the Bottled Water

By Tiffany 9 Comments

No doubt you have heard by now that some of the popular bottled water brands like Aquafina are actually glorified tap water. There is just nothing like a cold, refreshing bottle of $2.00 tap water right? Not! Save yourself some money and bottle your own "public water source" water in a nice resuable bottle. I recommend Klean Kanteen or Life Factory. Not only will you stop funding greedy and manipulative corporations you will also help to reduce the amount of plastic bottles entering the … [Read more...]
