I have already seen a huge surge of parents on my Facebook feed talking about their kids being sick after only a few days or weeks back at school. Such is life. Kids go back to school, they make new friends, they meet their new teachers, and they come home with less than exciting new illnesses. With so many children in one place if one of them has a runny nose and cough then logically many will end up with it. What can you do? Well, actually there is quite a bit we can do to prevent illness … [Read more...]
Supporting Smiles in Need with Tom’s of Maine
The above drawing was done by my spunky little girl. I asked her if she would draw me a picture of the tooth fairy and she drew a picture of her "personal" tooth fairy... because there are many don't ya know? There would have to be to make sure that tooth coverage is extended to every child on earth. Ginger here covers my daughter's room apparently and I hear she pays pretty well too. I am going to enter this lovely fairy in the Tom's of Maine Be a Tooth Fairy Hero Sweepstakes. The idea … [Read more...]
Go Green Get Fit Week Six – ECCO BIOM Lite 1.3 Shoes Review
Last week was mostly pretty sad on the fitness front. I only got to the gym one time. Yeah, pathetic. I went hoping to swim but the pool was closed. That is what I get for assuming it would be when they gave a July 8th expected re-open date. Ha! I kept get getting the weirdest stares from ladies on the circuit machines, like they did not understand why on … [Read more...]
Weed Control Fabric for Gardening
With all the rain here lately it has meant that our seedlings and transplants took a bit longer to get outside. That was okay with us because my husband couldn't build my raised bed until this past week either. Since we have a smaller, open yard now we decided to grow food in a couple raised beds (building them ourselves) and in pots and planters on our backyard deck. We will be growing heirloom varieties of tomato, peppers, sugar snap peas, snow peas, lettuce greens, and carrots. Yum! The … [Read more...]
The Case for Barefoot Running
This is not a book I would typically review here but It has been so helpful to me I thought I would. A couple months ago I started running again.. after over a decade long hiatus. When I did take it up again I was wearing Skechers Shape-Ups and at first I liked the extra work that the shoes seemed to heap on my calves but then my feet and legs started to hurt badly after each run. After I was forced to take several days off due to this I decided to go to the library and see if they had any … [Read more...]
