If you have some you\u00a0particularly like, turn them into these gorgeous teacup lights. It\u2019s not as difficult as you may think and it\u00a0should only take you about an hour to create these cute little lamps which are just my cup of tea. They\u00a0also make really great gifts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What you need<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Cup and saucer<br \/>\n\u2022 Pencil<br \/>\n\u2022 1\/2-inch diamond hole saw drill bit Upcycling ideas teacup lamp<br \/>\n\u2022 Drill<br \/>\n\u2022 Chandelier light fitting<br \/>\n\u2022 1\/2-inch steel threaded lamp nipple with matching nut<br \/>\n\u2022 Wire<br \/>\n\u2022 Plug<br \/>\n\u2022 Screw driver<br \/>\n\u2022 Wire cutters<br \/>\n\u2022 Gloves and safety glasses<\/p>\n<p>Turn your cup and saucer over and mark the center with a pencil. Put on the gloves and safety glasses\u00a0before using the drill. Pour a little water over the bottom of the cup and place the drill bit on your pencil\u00a0mark at a 45 degree angle. Slowly start to drill into the bottom. Drill slowly and don\u2019t apply too much\u00a0pressure until you have a hole in the bottom of your cup. Now do the same with the saucer.<\/p>\n<p>This is the kind of 1\/2-inch diamond hole saw drill bit I use:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16462\" src=\"https:\/\/naturemoms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/drill-bit.jpg\" alt=\"drill bit\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/naturemoms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/drill-bit.jpg 225w, https:\/\/naturemoms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/drill-bit-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/naturemoms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/drill-bit-144x144.jpg 144w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Put the cup and saucer together and slide the steel threaded lamp nipple through them. Use the wire\u00a0cutters to cut a length of wire and feed it through the steel threaded lamp nipple. Split the wire and\u00a0strip 1\/2 inch of plastic coating off the ends of the wire that are on the inside of the cup. Use the screw\u00a0driver to loosen the screws on both sides of the chandelier fitting. Wind one wire around each screw\u00a0and tighten. You can put either wire on either screw. Try to find a light socket that will accept the same\u00a0thread size and pitch as the threaded lamp nipple, and screw the lamp socket on to one end, the end\u00a0inside the tea cup.<\/p>\n<p>This is the kind of steel threaded lamp nipple I use:<\/p>\n<p><center><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16463 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/naturemoms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/nipple.jpg\" alt=\"nipple\" width=\"411\" height=\"213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/naturemoms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/nipple.jpg 411w, https:\/\/naturemoms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/nipple-150x77.jpg 150w, https:\/\/naturemoms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/nipple-300x155.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 411px) 100vw, 411px\" \/><\/center>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is the kind of chandelier fitting I\u00a0use:<\/p>\n<p><center><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16464\" src=\"https:\/\/naturemoms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/fitting.jpg\" alt=\"fitting\" width=\"238\" height=\"212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/naturemoms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/fitting.jpg 238w, https:\/\/naturemoms.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/fitting-150x133.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 238px) 100vw, 238px\" \/><\/center>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pass the nut over the other end of the wire and screw it down onto the exposed threaded pipe at the\u00a0bottom of the saucer. Tighten until the whole lamp fitting is secured.\u00a0Strip 1\/2 inch of rubber shielding off the two loose ends of the wire. Use the screwdriver to loosen\u00a0the screws on the plug and open it up. Loosen the screws inside the plug. Wrap one wire (either one)\u00a0around each screw and then tighten. Put the plastic cover back on the plug and tighten the screws.<\/p>\n<p>Screw a bulb into the chandelier light fixture, plug in your light and voila! Great idea!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Like this DIY?
