Fun Yes, Clean No!

Picking Dandelions

Spent some time this morning out in the garden pulling weeds and thinning the plants a little. It was so muddy after two days of rain that I had to put some cardboard down to avoid sinking. We are going to fill the rows with straw tomorrow.

While I did that my two oldest kids played hide and go seek with the neighbor kids and my youngest decided to play in the mud. Aren’t toddlers just deliciously wild and carefree? He was having so much fun I had to join him… until we were both covered from head to toe in mud.

What a cutie! Every single picture is precious. They could all be entered into a photography show at the county fair! Also, playing in the garden AND in the mud at the same time is my favorite hobby! Pulling weeds is much more fun when the ground is wet and muddy…

Beautiful pics! Being dirty from head to toe is always a sign of a good time at our house too!

Beautiful pictures! Where did you get the tree house/ slide?

  4. Follon, I am not sure what brand it is. We got it at Costco in Arizona a few years back.

If you put your straw over the cardboard it will make a real nice mulch. I didn’t put straw down on all of mine over the winter so this spring it was blowing all over the yard.

I LOVE the last picture of him playing in the muddy water. It’s perfect! Nothing better than getting dirty in your own back yard. :)

  12. I have to suggest that you invest in Puddlegear! Its PVC and Phthalate free raingear for kids! Its certified by OKO-TEX to be free of over 100 harmful chemicals. And it works! It wasnt built to be non toxic it was built to be functional and Abeko tweeked the product to be non-toxic!
I just found your site and its great! You take great pictures! If your interested in doing a review let me know!

Aww, I love gardening with my kids. It sure is fun to see them get excited about growing things, though they have to be in the right mood to be convinced on the weed pulling part.

It looks like you two had a lot of fun! Keep at it, they grow up so fast…

  14. My wife and I have planted a raised garden this year (our very first one!) and it is going pretty well so far. We get a ton of rain here too (in WA State) and I was wondering why you are going to put down straw instead of some sort of mulch? Since we are pretty new at this, any input is appreciated.

  15. It looks like you have a lot of land for your little ones to play. That is wonderful.
