Garden Goodies

All week we have been eating fresh from the garden. We are overflowing with tomatoes, bell peppers, banana peppers, chilis, cukes, and other deliciousness. The kids just pick and eat too. I swear my 3 year downed a half pound of snow peas before we even got any in the house. A bowl of sugar snap peas lasted about 3 hours before they were devoured. And of course tomatoes can be eaten just like apples, still warm from the sun and juicy sweet.

Tomatoes in the Garden

Red and Yellow Tomatoes

Fresh picked! We reused our berry basket from the local strawberry farm… those were heavenly too!

Pumpkins!

We have a couple pumpkins going strong too!

So what are you eating fresh the garden right now?

Oooo those veggies look so good! Some of my best childhood memories are eating fresh from the garden; peas where definitely my favorite. I can’t wait until we have backyard garden for the kids.

Your veggies look fabulous! We are eating green beans, cukes & zukes right now. My pumpkins (Jack-O-Lanern variety) are doing very well. I have one with a guesstimate weight of 5 pound, another one half that size, and a gourd size starter on the vines right now. I’m hoping to get 4 pumpkins (one for each of the kids) out of the crop. My tomatoes are loaded with baby green ones, and everything else is a bit behind due to our “mild” summer here in Cincinnati.

    Happy gardening!

Oh, wow! I so have garden envy! LOL I am a brand new gardener, but sooo excited and passionate about it. Should I already have planted my pumpkins? I’m in AZ so it might be different for me here, maybe I am supposed to wait till it cools a bit. I’ll have to find that out. I am kind of lost with gardening, but I am hoping to learn and become an expert gardener in the next couple years and be able to grow lots of year round produce for our family and skipping the store alltogether. :)) Yummy!! I can’t wait to eat a yummy cherry tomato straight off the vine………

  4. Yummy, those tomatoes look delicious! My wife has the habit of eating tomatoes with lemon juice and salt (sometimes chili pepper too). I prefer them alone and with my salads. Those are truly garden goodies :-)

Wow, great harvest! I’ll start my garden next spring and I’m looking forward to it.

  6. those look gorgeous. we have not had enough sun or warmth but i’m hoping this coming week will fix that problem…my tomatoes haven’t turned red yet!!!! oy vey.

  7. Your garden sounds wonderful! Our peas finished about 4 weeks ago. My son ate most of them fresh from the pod. Now we are enjoying really yummy carrots, my son picked out the seeds for them! We also have some green beans and yellow summer squash. They have been great to add to Miso soup!! Our yellow pear tomoatoes are just begining to ripen.

Looks wonderful! We’re getting lots of zucchini, green beans, beets, cabbage, tomatillos etc. The pumpkins are also looking great as well. I grew pie pumpkins and have tons growing and starting to turn orange.

I’m very jealous of your tomatoes. I’m in the northeast where blight has killed just about the entire crop. We’re getting a few here or there, but I won’t be able to put any up for the winter. Very sad.

    • Good eye Healther. Yes it is… it looks like a garden jungle since it pretty much let loose to grow on its own.

So yummy, we’ve only got tomatoes right now. we had squash but the squash bugs got it, even after I picked the nasty buggers out of the stems, I either got them too late or missed one. Hubby and I are reading up to make next year’s garden more successful.
