I love the smell of rose. Not the fakey scent that many rose perfumes represent to us but real rose, as in you plucked some deep red roses from the garden and took a bath in them. I grew up with a mom who always had an amazing rose garden wherever we lived and fresh cut roses floating in serene bowls of water were always a part of our home. Roses bring back happy memories for me.
Nowadays I love using rose water or rose hydrosols in my skincare routine. They refresh the skin and make it feel super silky and the scent relaxes and soothes. To go a little extra step and create that luxurious feeling in the bath you can make a fizzy bath bomb. It’s easy to do and the scent is UH-MAZ-ING. This DIY recipe uses a rose hydrosol or actual roses along with geranium essential oil because rose essential is really pricey. Geranium does have the familiar rose scent though. Enjoy!
Rose Bath Bombs
1 C baking soda
1/2 C citric acid powder
1/2 C Espsom salts
1 Tbps avocado oil
20 drops geranium essential oil
1 Tbsp rose hydrosol or dried rose petals
Combine all the dry ingredients and then drizzle the avocado oil and geranium oils on top. Spritz the rose hydrosol on to the mixture slowly and stir until everything begins to clump together. Make sure it is just moist enough to hold together when pressed. You can press rose petals into your mold and also put them in a ice or soap mold to make shapes. Let them sit for one week to cure before you use them. Enjoy!
