If the water was found to be unclean, people would use inadequate methods such as boiling and exposure to sunlight.

Years later, people thought of water filtering as the ideal solution to their problem; they used to use filtration through sand to get rid of the visible, unwanted particles. But despite their newest innovation, people still got diseases such as, cholera and others that were linked to the usage of filthy water. Scientists later acknowledged that the visible particles were the least of their worries. There were several breakthroughs that were achieved by scientists until they reached the ideal water filtration system that we now know today.
