The Reasons Why You Need to Swaddle Your Baby

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

Every parent needs their children to sleep sound without experiencing any trouble. When your newborn baby falls asleep, you may have a lot of worries about how to get your child to sleep peacefully. With the fact that small children usually have their hands unconsciously wandering around and picking things that they may hurt themselves with, or they may roll around and sleep on their stomach, which is not a good sleeping position for the children. These calls for why you need to do swaddling to your child be you lay them to sleep. Here are the important reasons for swaddling your newborn baby:

Helps Eliminate Anxiety from Your Baby

As the swaddle mimics the mother’s touch, it helps the baby to eliminate anxiety. Therefore, the baby can sleep peacefully without worries that the mother is away. Swaddling helps your baby think that you are around; this will enable you to handle other activities while the baby is asleep. A baby who has not been swaddled will always know that the mother is not around and the baby may not sleep longer; you, therefore, have to check on the baby from time to time to ensure that he is still asleep. When the baby becomes anxious, they are seen to cry from time to time.

Helps Your Baby to Sleep Better and Longer

Every mother needs their children to have a peaceful and enough sleep. Swaddling will help you achieve this. Since your baby’s hands are rapped to prevent unnecessary movements, it helps you prevent your baby from scratches their faces and waking them up due to unconscious and random movement of your baby’s hands. This will help your baby to sleep better and longer without distractions. Swaddling the anxiety by mimicking the mother’s touch helps soothe the baby and enhance better and longer sleep.

Helps Prevent SIDS

For newborn babies, swaddling helps them to prevent SIDS. As it prevents the young ones from covering their heads or faces with bedding and minimizes their rate at which they can flip over on their stomach, both of which are the causes of SIDS in infants. Swaddling helps prevent unnecessary items such as blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals from reaching your child.

Less Crying

Babies must sometimes cry, no matter how experienced you are in soothing the baby, you must get a time that the baby cries, and you may even think that the baby does not like swaddling. Swaddling provides a soothing impact to the baby; it does not instantly soothe the baby to stop crying but provides a soothing effect in the long run where it mimics the mother’s touch. It, therefore, helps you calm the baby faster.

Swaddling your baby does not necessarily mean that your baby is not going to cry; sometimes a baby must cry, sometimes the baby cries due to hunger, a diaper change, or any other reasons. Swaddling majorly helps in soothing the baby and helps prevent unnecessary movement of the baby’s parts to an unrequired baby sleeping position. When you get yourself the best swaddle for your baby, it will help you solve soothing the baby.
