Healthy Kitchenware Giveaway

Glass Kitchen CanistersKitchens can be toxic places…plastic food storage containers that leach chemicals into our foods, Teflon pans release chemical nasties when they get hot enough, BPA in our kiddie cups…you name it. This is why I just love the idea behind a relatively new store called Healthy Kitchenware. It is all about a healthy, non-toxic kitchen with products that will not harm us.

The owner, Cynthia Bistrain, was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2005 and afterwards she began to heavily research health, nutrition, and environment. One of the first lifestyle changes she made was to get rid of all the plastic in her kitchen that came in contact with her food, because the plasticizers they contained could potentially leach hazardous chemicals. Some of these chemicals act like hormones in our body, which can then lead to disease.

I think most green moms can relate to that. We want the chemical nasties out our house and especially the things that come into contact with our food. On the Healthy Kitchenware site you will find a variety of great products that help us detox our kitchens. I LOVE glass storage containers and I think I have mentioned before how much I adore Pyrex. But Pyrex is not very cheap, especially if you like the vintage stuff like me. And it can also be less than practical because there is no way I am going to put Pyrex in the dishwasher and have the colors fade.

Lucky for us there are tons of affordable options now for glass storage and refrigerator containers. There is just no reason to use plastic…even safer BPA free plastics, because plastics like that generally aren’t recyclable. Healthy Kitchenware provides a great service.

Cynthia was kind enough to send me a set of their square glass jars. These stackable square glass jars can hold grains, pastas, pickles, cookies or any food that needs storage on the counter or refrigerator. The set includes one each 1.5 qt, 1 qt and 1/2 qt jars. They are Dishwasher safe with silicone seals to ensure freshness, and a sturdy glass lid and body. They are highly affordable and do a great job. I have been using the two larger ones to store flax crackers and nuts. The smaller one is great for putting leftovers in and then popping it in the frig for my hubby to take to work the next day. I also love the ribbed glass variety they offer…I actually have some that are vintage and LOVE them…it is awesome to see them make a comeback.

So are you ready to toss the Tupperware and Rubbermaid for some glass? Healthy Ktchenware is offering one lucky reader a set of 3 glass storage/refrigerator containers!

CLOSED: The winner is number 69 – Danielle! Congrats!!

We have totally started going glass for everything. It is recyclable and way better not leeching chemicals! The apple jar on that site is so cute!

  2. Mary Jenkins

I sure could use the potato ricer!

  3. Alana

I love the apple, egg & pumpking jars. They’re so cute.

But I have a serious question. I’ve been trying to transition over, but my husband refuses to take leftovers to work in glass. He thinks that he’ll break it. How do I convince him?

  4. Lori Drumm

I love the Pumpkin Jar! I used to be a Tupperware consultant, so you can imagine the plastic that needs to be replaced in my house right now…

  5. Kelly

A stainless steel wine carafe — it won’t break, that’s for sure!

  6. Tammy T

I love the 12 cup glass dish with lid. I have one similar but this one is stackable.

  7. jdp

The glass cookie jars! I’ve been scrounging second hand and thrift shops for old glass pieces. Cheaper than starting over from retail. But I haven’t found ANY square jars. I like those. But the cookie jars are great, maybe its just because I’m happy its fall and I want the pumpkin one. :)

  8. Margot

I LOVE glass fridgeware. It just makes so much sense. The sizes are perfect and they are easy to clean and store. Very cool!

  9. Sharon

In my efforts to eat healthier lunches no matter where I find myself throughout the day I would love to win the 3-tier stainless steel lunch carrier.

  10. Gabreial

I really need some of those sandwich wraps. I’ve been eying those for some time now. I would also love one of those stainless steal water bottles for everyone in my family! Thanks for the giveaway.

  11. much more than a mom

I love the glass fridgeware – I totally need to ditch my tupperware.
Thanks so much for a great contest!

  12. Melanie

I love the pumpkin! Great stuff…I’ll be looking at their website this week and taking inventory of our current kitchen things that I can get rid of!

  13. Karen

the reusable sandwich wraps are a great idea! i love how it doubles as a place mat once you unwrap the sandwich so it catches any crumbs.

  14. One Mom

The wrap n’ mats are the greatest thing since sliced bread! Great when you need to take food in the car too.

  15. Kristin

I love the 2 cup glass container with the lid. I’ve been looking for glass products like this! Thanks for the tip!

  16. Hey Alana, did you see the stainless steel lunch box containers that are also on the site? They stack, they can hold hot or cold (and keep it hot or cold) and you can even get cute cloth print bags with a strap to carry them. I’ve been eyeing one for myself to bring to work for awhile now!

Would love to rid my house of tupperware and make the switch to glass complete. Right now we are about half half.

  17. Deborah

I like the stainless steel lunch carriers and the little containers! I’ve resorted to making my own (fabric) baggies, but those containers look like they’d be a great way to keep food in tact!

  18. I think I’d get a lot of use out of the
Gingham Wrap ‘n Mat. So cute!

  19. melinda s.

I’m looking for more glass!!! Amazing how much plastic storage containers are out there….hard to get away from it!!!

  20. melinda s.

Oh yeah….I’m lovin’ the square glass containers….those are perfect for our dehydrated fruits we do….right now we store them in plastic gladware…would love to replace those!

  21. Julia

I need to get one of the stainless steel water bottles and start making the switch

  22. Julia

The wrap-n-mat sandwich wraps! What a great idea.

  23. Kam A

I love the Gingham wrap-n-mats for the sandwiches!

  24. Jennifer

I didn’t get too far past the glass containers, as that is what I have been looking for! My fav is the 5-cup dish with glass lid – I used to have one of these, and it disappeared at some point. I will be ordering one of these for sure.

    Thanks for having the giveaway,
    Jennifer

  25. Nicki

I love the 12 cup dish, it is beautiful and safe for my family. Like you, I tend to collect vintage pyrex but I like this clear glass version on the site.

  26. Ang

I love these!!! We are about 3/4ths rid of plastic in this house. I can’t wait to be at 100%.

  27. Crissy

    Great site!
I’ve gone all glass in the kitchen too and have been buying the Vintage Pyrex Refrigerator glass with the ribbed glass lids. Love them!

On the Healthy Kitchen site I would love to have the kids flat lidded stainless steel water bottle. My son needs one for his lunch box.

  28. The 2 tier stainless lunch carrier looks fun and I love the Klean Kanteens, but my favorites are the square storage jars that you’re featuring! What a great giveaway. We’re in the process of changing all of our plastic and teflon over to glass, ceramic and stainless steel. Would love to win your contest. Thanks for a great link.

  29. I like the glass containers shown at top of this blog. I have tupperware cointainers now that were passed on to me when my sister moved. Glass would be better health wise, plus you can see what is in the cointainers.

  30. ebl

I am all about the sandwich wraps- I am always lugging around a sandwich and feel such guilt when using a baggie!!

  31. Rebecca

I love the sandwich wraps. I cringe at the thought of how many ziplocs we use. I have tried to get my family to use containers but than I face the ‘it’s too bulky’ fight!

  32. Rebecca

I love the 12 cup glass dish. This is awesome that it can go in the oven and the frig.

  33. How wonderful! I’ve been searching for a company like this forever. I can’t wait to try out the large dish with the glass lid for leftover soups. We always have such trouble figuring out how to store them. I hate putting things in plastic! I have a few refrigerator dishes from my grandparents that I love but am always afraid I will break them. Now I can use glass without worrying about it breaking because it’s not an antique.

  34. Kerensa

I am slowly going to glass storage. I do pyrex for all the little one food, only a few rubbermaid bowls left for big leftovers. The apple jar is CUTE. I really want to add some glass lid dishes to my storage solution.

  35. Amanda

Thanks for the chance! Unfortunately, for me it was also endometriosis that lead me down the green path about 10 years ago.

  36. Kristen R

I’ve been eyeing the stainless steel lunchboxes. I love making bento style lunches for my family, but typical bento boxes are not what I want in my kitchen. I’ve been using laptop lunchboxes, but they don’t have the same “feel”. The stainless steel stacks look like they would be perfect!

  37. Nieves

I used to sale tupperware and i have a ton of this stuff, and I am trying to move to glass or stainless but it is hard and trying to get my husband to stop using the tupperware for leftovers , but I just don’t have anything else – I have been using canning jars, but they don’t work for everything.
Anyway I really like the medium stainless steel container . would be great to take kids snacks and lunch on the road.
    And thanks for the chance

  38. Cindi

Hi, These glass jars would be perfect for storage in our food pantry. It is nice when you can see what is in the containers! I also like their
12, 5, and 2 cup dishes with glass lids. They remind me of the kind my mom and grandma had. Please enter my name in your wonderful giveaway drawing. Many thanks…..Cindi

  39. I really like the steel lunchbox. We just moved out of town and my husband doesn’t work down the street anymore, so he has to take his lunch. I’d much prefer he use these to the plastic containers we have. Since we’re in the market for a new stainless steel water bottle, I could probably convince him we need to order both to combine shipping! I’d love the glass containers for storage at home, too.

  40. Pam

Love the stainless water bottles and the reusable wraps! Thanks for offering these!

  41. Erin A

The storage containers look great! I am slowly transitioning out plastic for glass. Expensive to do all at once, but we will get there. I also really like the lunchboxes. will have to look into one for my husband and maybe one for my daughter for school next year.

  42. The glass baby bottles caught my eye. I nursed for over a year but when I had to go to class I had to pump a bottle. I never thought to get glass bottles! Next time I will!

great giveaway! we are slowly trying to get rid of our plastics but that can be expensive!

  43. Tricia

I love the sandwich wraps. I”m always looking for an easier way than lugging my glass containers around to bring my sandwiches to work. Thanks for bringing attention to this website.

  44. Molomatic

I really like the re-usable sandwich wraps. Great site! Thanks for doing the giveaway!

  45. Julie

Most of the items there are things I’ve seen before, but the 2 and 5 cup dishes with glass lids are new to me. I would love to keep those on hand for left overs from meals here at home. I’m trying to get my mom hooked on glass too! I’m sure she’d be impressed!

  46. what a great site! My family has been making the switch to glass and stainless steel also. I love the Kleen Kanteens-I bought one for each of my girls and just bought one for myself.

On this site, I especially love the reusable sandwich wraps–what a great idea! I will definitely be getting some soon :)

  47. Jackie

This is a cool site – thanks for sharing. I love their apple jars – so cute! I’m trying to transition to all glass jars but its been a slow process…..

  48. Amanda

I love the glass dishes with lids. It totally reminds me of a butter dish we had when I was small.

  49. All of it’s great, but the sandwich wraps are what caught my eye. What a good idea! Wish I’d thought of it. ;-)

  50. Jessica C

i like the Re-usable Sandwich Wraps.

  51. Marisa

I would sleep better at night knowing that ziplock sandwhich bags will cease to exist in my home. Bless the inventor of Wrap A Mats! Gotta have’em.

  52. Angela

Love the small stainless steel containers! I have been searching high and low for something non-plastic to carry snacks with us. Yeah!

  53. I love Healthy Kitchenware’s 70oz pumpkin jar. I love all things autumn and the jar would be great to fill with pumpkin cookies and display on the dining room table.

  54. I like the wrap n’ mats. They would be a nice alternative to the endless baggies.

By the way, thanks for your comment on my blog. While I think I disagree with you in a couple of major ways I appreciate your time.

  55. Robyn

I’ve been wanting to get all the plastic out of our kitchen but it is SUCH an uphill battle, especially with money being tight.
I like the stainless steel containers, personally. They can be brought for lunch without breaking. Glass is good for in the kitchen, but you have to have something with which to take food out of the kitchen.

  56. Amy

Love this site! I really want some of those wrap-n-mats! And another Kleen Kanteen bottle! My son adores his and his little brother wants one too! Thanks for this giveaway! Hope I win! Those glass containers would be a wonderful thing to add to my kitchen!
    Amy in CA

  57. michelle y

Ooooh, this would be awesome! I’ve been slowly converting to all glass/stainless steel. Still too much plastic in my kitchen though!

  58. penny

my favorite container for storing foods is canning jars with the metal lids. my kids use them for drinking cups and i have the lids in a drawer ready to grab when i have anything from soups to peanuts to store. dishwasher safe, too!

  59. Ashley

I love everything… how can I choose! I think the wrappers instead of baggies are great and something I have to have! Thanks for the post!

  60. Lindsay

I love the sandwich wraps I need to get some of those. Thanks for letting us know about this company.

  61. Colleen

The sandwich wraps are a great idea. I would love to win this giveaway. Thank you.

  62. Danielle

I actually love the square glass jars the best – nice and modern looking, and so functional. Thanks for the chance!

  63. michelle m

I like the square glass jars!

  64. marie

Love the reusable sandwich wraps and the steel water bottles…perfect for my 3 girls lunches!

  65. Great giveaway! I love the stainless steel lunch containers!

  66. Julie A.

This is such a great giveaway! My husband and I have been getting way more into glass lately because we know the benefits of it. I went to the website and pretty much liked everything, but what stood out the most was the Reusable Sandwich Wraps. How clever!

  67. Julie A.

I just sent a bullentin on my myspace about this giveaway, so hopefully at least one of my friends will sign up and go green with me:)

  68. Heather

The sandwitch wraps, what a great Idea.

  69. Nikki McRee

I came across this site a few weeks ago hunting stainless steel containers I could use in a lunch box. I haven’t been able to order yet, but I really want them!!

  70. Kristin B

Yes, I am ready to toss the tupperware!

  71. melissa najd

Hi I’d love to win these! My kitchen is plastic free but I could use more storage containers. great blog thanks

  72. Melissa Oliver

I am going to buy some of the reusable sandwich wraps. They are what I’ve been looking for. Thank you so much for putting this site on your blog!

  73. Melissa

I’m with the majority – the sandwich wraps are an EXCELLENT idea. I’m thinking about ordering them right now!

  74. Pamela

I have broken several of my glass containers and have been shopping yard sales and thrift stores to find replacements with no luck. I would love to win this set!
    Thanks!

  75. Celeste

The re-useable sandwich wraps are great! I’d love to try them!

  76. Greta

Oh I love it all! We are in the process of re-evaluating our pantry storage needs, so this is great timing Honestly, right now, most of our storage is re-used spaghetti sauce jars and yogurt containers! I could buy one of each on the Healthy Kitchenware site, but I really love the lunch box options- both the stainless seal boxes and the reusable sandwich wraps.

  77. Holly Justice

I loved the stainless steel lunchbox. Very sleek looking and could double as a service piece.

  78. Lisa

We use bento boxes, but I love the stainless steel lunch boxes. So easy and they appear to hold a lot of food. We might be trying those next :)

  79. Jen

We’re actually looking for safe cookware as well! Any suggestions?

  80. jen

I have never seen a kiddie Klean Kanteen! How great. My son always wants to hold mine, so now he will get his own (his cousin, too). I am 35 and have been diagnosed with breast cancer so I am going green EVERYWHERE! I believe it could have come from plastics in my food or pesticides. Glass is the way to go! Good luck moms on protecting our families:)

  81. Becky

I love the stainless lunch container with sauce container from the Healthy Kitchenware site. I am a nurse who usually brings my lunch in the “free” tote that the hospital gives out for Nurse’s Week. I am sure the hospital gets them in bulk for super cheap, so I’m sure it is probably made of some pretty “unhealthy” stuff. Thanks for bringing this website to my attention, I will definately check it out!

  82. Heather

I want one of each…okay, maybe two!

  83. julie

I would love to know how good the wraps are for sandwiches. I could cut down on the foil I usually use & reuse (or recycle).

  84. Doris

Love the egg, apple, and pumkin containers! Thanks for introducing me to this site! Always looking for different sites to buy glass from.

  85. Amanda

i love how their lunchboxes, next time my hubby needs a new one thats what he’s getting! also their prices on baby bottles and most of their other stuff is really reasonable! props for good deals!

  86. I like the tiered stainless steel lunch carrier. I have always had a fondness for those since living in Asia.

  87. We don’t eat lunch out often, but I can’t help thinking how cool it would be to have one of those teired lunch carriers. I guess a stainless steel water bottle would be more practical for us right now, seeing that we’ve decided to give up buying individual servings of bottled water and still need to find water bottles to replace them with.

  88. casual friday everyday

Re-usable Sandwich Wraps caught my eye.

  89. wow now this is realy grate to put your things in to then youc see what you got and if it good or not i love to try and win this thanks

  90. wow now this is realy grate to put your things in to then youc see what you got and if it good or not i love to try and win this thanks

  91. Cate

I dig the stainless steel bottles. I can’t stop my stepdaughter from buying plastic water bottles while at school (at least it’s not pop) unless she’s geared up with something like this…
    Thanks for the contest.

  92. Karen

I just love the tiered lunch box. What a great idea.

  93. Kristen

reusable sandwich wraps – how cool is that?! What a great idea.

  94. CJStewart

Oh, where to start?! I really like their glass containers with glass lids. We use the glass containers with plastic lids (Pyrex) and cringe about it each time. Ugh…the guilt!

I also like the super cute pumpkin, apple, and egg containers.

  95. Linda M

LOVE their reusable sandwich bags too. Gotta get me some of those!!!!

  96. Leslie

I love the 2 cup dish with glass lid! That would be great for leftovers!

  97. I’ve had my eye on wrap n mats for awhile. I wonder how well they work?

  98. sky

i love the gingham sandwich wrap. the stainless lunch containers are great too!

  99. Sarah

I love the re-usable sandwich wrap for my sons lunch box – turns in to a placemat too – double duty!

  100. Darcy

Thank you for another great give-away and promoting great green companies. The square storage jars are such an improvement over my old standby – mason jars because the square shape stacks and stores much more efficiently! Cheers!

  101. amanda

I started to switch out my plastics, but ran out of money. This would be great!

  102. Jen

I was so excited to see their prices on glass baby bottles. I hadn’t even looked at them because my SIL told me they sold for $20 each! I’ve been putting off a medical appointment I’ll need to pump for because I didn’t want to spend $20 on a bottle I probably won’t use again.

I love their assortment of glass containers, too! They definitely beat the modern pyrex with the plastic lids.

  103. Carrie

I am trying so hard to get rid of our plastic containers but we use them so much taking our lunches to work. The 2 cup glass container would be a welcome addition to our routine.

  104. Heather Housman

I love the stainless steel lunch boxes. What a great site!

  105. Elizabeth

I love these. I went to the website to purchase and they’re sold out!

I like the 40 oz stainless steel water bottle with sports cap.

    janetfaye (at) gmail (dot) com

  108. Beth G

I’ve started converting to glass where ever possible!

  109. Sarah

i love the stainless steel lunch carrier.. i have been wanting one for a while now but they have always been too expensive. those listed on healthy kitchenware’s website website are definitely affordable! they are so convenient, too. i may have to purchase them. :) thanks!

  110. Raleigh

The stainless steel containers look pretty sweet too. Thanks for letting me know about this company.

  111. I really like the Stainless lunch carrier with sauce container, my husband eats alot of foods where he takes salsa, guacamole or chirmol-and this would be a really neat and useful lunch container for him!

  112. Chandra

I love the stainless steel juicer!!! I’ve yet to be able to find one that is not plastic :)

  113. I love the square glass jars! Some day I hope to convert my kitchen to glass storage…esp stackable like this!

  114. Amy

Wow…I’ve never even seen anything like the sandwich wraps. What an awesome idea! And I’m definitely needing some stainless steel water bottles for my twins. The plastic sippys have got to go!

  115. suzikg

Glass is the best and lasts forever!

    suzi g

  116. Bern

We’ve been using mason jars for storage, the wide mouth ones are great! But these look great for keeping outside of the shelf!

  117. Candice

The stainless storage containers for taking lunch. The three tiers idea is great. I also love the glass containers for the fridge.
    Great prices!

  118. john

I Love the SS lunch containers and i also bought a small and a medium ss containers and the glass bowls with glass tops. Even glass bowls with plastic tops are no longer welcome at my house!

thanks for the great website tip!!

    john

  119. Jessica F

I love the 12- cup dish with glass lid. I think it would be perfect for leftovers, plenty big!

  120. I Love the glass cookie jars… C is for Cookie thats good enough for me!!!

  121. Deanna

the reusable sandwich wraps are great–I plan to purchase some soon–I truly dislike using plastic, but it’s SO hard to find things that aren’t.

  122. Tiffany

I love the green sandwich wrap mat. We eat whole wheat bread which have bigger slices and they never fit in the plastic baggies anyway!

  123. Bena

plastic sucks, thanks for the great glass containers!

  124. Gina

I love the glass containers with glass lids. Even my husband should be able to find things in the fridge with these!
