What is the greenest beauty routine around? To go au naturale of course. :) This is usually my preferred choice but that is more about not wanting to spend time using the stuff not so much for green reasons. The second best option IMO would be to make your own beauty supplies to the extent you can using stuff you already have in the house. This ensures that you get natural ingredients too. BUT some things you just can’t make at home or maybe you just don’t want to….you won’t see me making homemade lotions or lip balms in my kitchen, I just don’t have the time. Lucky for us though there are more and more great green beauty and personal care products everyday. Here are few that impressed me lately:
For My Kids – This company is one I mentioned awhile back for their awesome natural hand sanitizer and Vinegar of 4 Thieves. This is a company dedicated to making products that are beneficial to our children and our planet. They have recently released some natural care items that I like including My Mommy’s Face Care and an All Natural Vegan Lip Balm. The face care gel cleans and moisturizes in one step with organic, food-grade ingredients. You just rub it on then wipe with a dry cloth—no water necessary. Dirt, make-up, and dried bits of dinner will come off with ease. Your skin will be clean and soft. Ingredients include: coconut oil, almond oil, candelilla wax, and chamomile.
The lip balm is awesome and I look forward to using during this fall/winter season when my lips get soooo dry. The Peppermint flavor is scrumptious and I have never tried a lipbalm that was so smoothe and silky before…yum. It comes in a small tin and I highly recommend it!
Another cool new company (to me at least) is EcoTools. They sell eco versions of loofahs, makeup brushes, bath sponges, foot files, etc. using sustainable bamboo. They are very high quality and luxurious all the while being a greener choice then what you would pick up at Wal-Mart. I have an EcoTools bath sponge and it is all bamboo cloth unlike the plastic ones that most conventional stores have. You can just throw in the wash after awhile to clean it. I also have the bamboo shower mitt and LOVE it. Just put it on your hand and it exfoliates your skin. It feels really good too…I can get behind those kind of beauty practices, LOL.
Face Natural is a company I familiar with and they now have a line of beauty products including a cool anti-aging kit. It seems for everything you want there is a greener, more natural version these days and that rocks. The kit has a mud cleanser, toner, night serum, and anti-aging cream. If you use high end department store skincare products and want to try a more natural version then this is for you.
Miessence Organics has some shampoo and conditioner that I have been using too. I usually use a shampoo bar and I love it because I can go without washing my hair for days without getting a case of the oilies. This is helpful if your biggest green secret is that you don’t like to shower for days on end, haha! To save water of course! Anyway…conventional shampoos strip my hair and make me have to wash it again the next day…it is like your hair gets super oily to compensate for the harsh shampoo chemicals or something. But the Miessence Desert Flower Shampoo does not strip my hair at all and I really like it. It smells good and it is 100% organic from one of the most reputable companies I have ever come across. It is pricey but since I pay $8 a shampoo bar it evens out when I don’t have to wash my hair every day or even every other day.
I have been using the Shine Herbal Hair Conditioner on my daughter since she has long hair that gets tangly….works very well and gives her hair some shine. It also naturally balances the pH with organic apple cider vinegar.
Thanks for this post. I had no idea this many companies even existed. We’re just making the move (slowly but surely) away from our old drugstore habits, so this is quite helpful. Thanks again.
Great blog- as always! I am always looking to tips on better body care for both myself and my clients. Can’t wait to check some out. It can be overwhelming, as some of the “organic” products are not as pure as one would think! I love to use coconut oil as a body lotion. I just leave it in the shower so it softens as I shower, and then it is ready to apply! I cannot wait unitl I have the time to REALLY read over your stuff- this is truly fantastic!
I’m always looking for more natural beauty products since I like to wear a bit of makeup. I had used a lot of Burt’s Bees products, but they’ve been phasing out their makeup line, so I’m on the hunt for some other affordable and good options. These sound like good ones to look into!
I have been looking for a skin care line for anti-aging, this is perfect. Now if I can just find a mascara that really works!
We have started switching to all-natural body products, but still have the chemical-laden shampoo. I’ll give the one you recommended a try..so far whatever I’ve tried has left my hair dry, greasy, stringy…no keepers yet!
I’ve started using Jason Red Elements for my face wash, and mineral makeups. Still haven’t found all of the things that I like, but there are finally some great options out there!
I would love to try new products. Thanks…
I would love to try this!!!
I’ve been slowly going through your blog for the last few weeks, and am now thoroughly addicted to it! I must say all of your ideas are inspiring, and I have been making changes in my house a little at a time. Thanks so much for the blog, it’s really helping out this newbie to the world of green!
I am going to order some Vingear of 4 Thieves! It’s exactly what I need around the house during cold and flu time. Thank you for finding these great natural products!
We are always looking for better alternatives! sounds good
Thanks for all the info. I have been trying to find beauty/care product that are green. Would love to try!
Thanks for writing about the shampoo bar. How interesting that it doesn’t strip the hair! I’ll have to try this.
Thanks for the post! I’m always looking for new options.
thanks for some more awesome places to go for green and natural beauty! one place i order from pretty regularly is http://www.everydayminerals.com for their beauty products and i LOVE their soaps and moisturizers. i have really dry skin and on my face love these products because they work and everyday minerals does a great job with their ingredient lists. awesome post!
I will have to try the shampoo bar. It seems that sence I have had children my hair has gotten more oily.
Gosh, we have so many bottles of Purell around the house (our twins were preemies…) and they should really be replaced by your suggestions. Thanks for the chance to with the other goodies!
I love natural products. Aren’t they the best?
WOW!! This giveaway once again is just too good:) I would LOVE to try the My Mommy’s Face Care from For My Kids and the Eco Tools Bamboo Bath Sponge. I could definitely use those things and the anti-aging skincare set from Face Natural I would give to my mom because she just asked me the other day if I could research for her a green anti-aging line, so this would be perfect. Best of luck to all!!!
I have been really good about cleaning out the chemicals from the house, I have only just started getting to my own skin care routine. Why do we mom’s always put our selves last?
great post!
Wonderful Post!! I love learning about the different options in skin care.
Thanks so much for the tip on where to get “green” kids products!
I can’t wait to try the lip balm1
I would love to try the skin care products! I’ve been trying to go green as much as I can. I currently use chagrin valley shampoo bars. What do you use?
The My Mommy’s Face Care sounds great. I use either Trader Joe’s tea tree oil wash but my skin ends up really dry. Thanks for this post.
Great post for Great stuff! I hope I’m lucky enough to win this fabulous prize!
What a fantastic give away! Everything sounds so great.
I love reading your blog! Great giveaway!!!
Just comment! Well, I’ve never considered myself lucky, but I do consider myself green and I’m getting greener all the time (c’mon thumb, time to catch up!) so I won’t go into detail how I found this blog, but I will say I’ve added you to my bookmarks with lightening speed and mucho enthusiasm!! Looking forward to catching up on previous entries too (read: piles of neglected laundry and dust bunnies the size of my cats). WooHoo!
Sounds great! I usually use Avalon Organics products, but I love to know what’s out there.
Love all these safe products. Thanks.
Thanks a ton for the post, all the products you have mentioned sound so great!
Thanks for the links. I love that there are so many choices these days.
Would love to try these products.
I’m anxious to try these products, especially the shampoo!
All of these natural products sound great! I recently started buying my shampoo and conditioner in bulk at the health food store – i just bring in my old bottles and keep refilling them to save packing. I am going start buying lotion that way too. It’s quite a bit cheaper too.
Great post! The products sound great!
It’s great to hear of new products. I am trying to “go green” with all my kid’s products and my own – EVERYTHING (even kids diaper lotion) has parabens in it – are they crazy? I am horrified of the stuff I have been exposing my kids and myself to without knowing…
of course, would love the stuff! Here is to crossing my fingers :)
Thanks for sharing this info! I am trying to find good natural products for me! :-)
Great post and insight into products I had no idea about. It would be great to give some of them a try!
Very informative post! Would love to try out the give away!
I love Terressentials for hair and body products :)
There are lots of natural personaql care products coming out- it’s good to know your favorites!
Aunt Flo visited today. I was reaching for her hygiene products and accidentally knocked over some fancy lotion I’ve been saving. I watched it fall in slo-mo down, down, down to the tile floor. The bathroom smells terrifically orangey, but the lotion mess didn’t exactly wipe up easily. Plus, I lost all my glittery date night potion. :-(
Thanks (again) for the great info and links to wonderful natural products! What would we do without you? You’re the best!!!
Great info as I’ve been wondering about some natural products! I would love to be entered in the giveaway!
I’ve been looking for more green products, and bath care is no different. I’ve been debating going NoPoo lately, but I haven’t been able to get to that point yet. Great post!
Thanks for the tips! I add baking soda to my cleanser for a great, cheap, natural facial scrub. Works great!
Just love that I’ve found this info on your site as I’m slowly transitioning product to better choices.
Thanks for your post, it is SO difficult to find safe options (especially in cosmetics.)
Hate to toot my own horn (but, I will!) and say that I created an all organic, vegan, handmade bath & body care line (Lotions & Potions) with my child and another on the way in mind. All of my products are paraben free as well as not containing any animal by-products. We’re always so concerned with what we put in our bodies, we need to stop and think that with skin being our largest organ, it absorbs everything we put *on* it too. If you’re feeling like checking out my goodies, the site is http://www.lotsnpots.com
Oh, and no synthetic fragrances are used either!! Only all natural, organic essential oils…….yum!
The giveaways sound great! I go without makeup and other products if I want to avoid the chemicals because I usually can’t afford the organic and natural ones. I do like to buy the safer options for my kids, though, which is why I keep coming back to your site for more insights and reviews!
I love trying new bath products…..makes me feel so refreshed!!!
Enter me! Also, you may want to see my recent post on cleaning your face with oil. Just castor oil and sunflower oil mixed at home – and my face loves it!
Thanks for the chance! I don’t think people realize just how toxic cosmetics can be. Scary!
I love trying new products! I currently use Jason, Aubrey, and Burt’s Bees, but am always up for trying something different!
Thanks for these links. I am going to spend some time today at EcoTools :D
I have to admit, my bath and body products items that I don’t like to skimp on. I enjoy feeling and smelling nice but without all the icky chemicals.
I want this prize!!!!
A giveaway …. How wonderful
and what could be better than eco friendly products…. FREE ECO FRIENDLY PRODUCTS of course :)
I’d love to try these! I’ve made the switch for my son’s products, and am now working on myself as the budget allows :)

I’m going to check out EcoTools now…I’ve been in the market for a greener loofah! Thanks!

Enter me please! I love to try new stuff.
I just discovered your blog via Stumble Upon and love it. Thanks for taking the time & effort to get this info out onto the web.
We use Weleda for most products and LOVE it! Natural and smells great, not a fabricated scent.
Thanks for the links. I would love to try some new stuff!
Kepp the suggestions coming! I’ve been slowly weeding out products with Sodium Laurate Sulfate (not sure if I spelled that right) in our home.
This was such a great post! I never realized all these companies existed and I had actually never heard of shampoo bars before – but it sounds great! I’ve actually been online this morning looking at different ones and ready to order some to try out! Your blog has been so helpful in helping getting our family more green!! Thanks!
I would live to try this:)
Thanks for the tips. Can’t wait to try some of these products.
Thanks for sharing your finds. I’ve found others (Aveda, Aubrey Organics, & Burts Bees) but I simply cannot afford Aveda & really like the fact you’ve done the research for me! (Hey, I admit, I’m a tad “lazy!” After 7 kids, I’m entitled! :P )
I look forward to reading more of your articles! Thanks & God bless!
I’ve been a big fan of Aveda, but not so much after reading through their ingredients and comparing them at http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com. So, I am now looking for products that work just as well, or better, than Aveda and are good for me! Thanks so much for the info.
I love the green info i read here. I started using baking soda to scrub my hair and scalp and rinsing with white vinegar. works great, soft shiney hair and costs under a buck. What’s not to love.
Tiffany, thanks so much for the mention. I’m trying to get rid of the small kits and introduce larger bottles so if you order one of the kits, I’ll send you two while the supply lasts.
I would love to hear more information about natural makeup/beauty products. I unfortunately can’t go aunatural all the time so anything better for myself and the environment that actually works would be fabulous!!!!
The winner is commenter #45…Becky…congrats!!!
love to try this. :) thanks
