Loving the Ball Jar Heritage Collection

By Tiffany 2 Comments

If you visit my kitchen, you'll find glass jars everywhere. I use them for everything it seems... beverages, broth, bulk foods such as nuts and dried fruit, leftovers from dinner, salt, herbs, spices, fermenting, canning, vases, storage containers, and much more! Recently when my nine year old daughter decided to climb up the kitchen and rip the shelf that held all our drinking glasses off the wall, spilling its contents onto the floor, we had a huge mess to clean up and a decision to make. The … [Read more...]

Teaching Kids How to Save Money – Saving For the Future

By Tiffany 2 Comments

When you are a kid, money can seem like a really huge deal.  Any amount of money that a child gets can make them feel very important, and the first thing they want to do is go out and spend their money. That is exactly what consumer America encourages them to do in fact.  In this day and age however, it might be a better idea for a child to save the money they get instead of going out to spend it.  This is something we all need to learn how to do unless we want to live paycheck to paycheck. Here … [Read more...]

Simple Green Cleaning Tips

By Tiffany 14 Comments

LOVE to talk about green cleaning. No really, could talk about it all day long. I do not understand why so many folks rely on mainstream cleaners with their noxious and toxic chemicals. The green stuff works just as well and it is safe for humans and safe for our planet. There is just no reason to buy up most of the stuff you will see in the cleaning isle of your conventional grocery store. NO REASON. And before anyone brings up price I will concede that bottle of mainstream all purpose cleaner … [Read more...]

Summer Snacking – Adult Version

By Tiffany 1 Comment

When the weather is warm and I am not in the mood for a green smoothie I make the next best thing... a milkshake. Nosh on some chocolate on the side and I am heaven sent. Yum! This is a raw, vegan "mylkshake" made from unsweetened almond milk. I added a bit of Thai coconut sugar, a ripe banana, some vanilla, and ice cubes. It is frothy and delicious. I think the Ball jar and glass straw just add a little something too. In the bowl is handful of Nativas Naturals Cacao Goji Power Snacks. I … [Read more...]

Coconut Milk Yogurt and Coconut Water Kefir

By Tiffany 17 Comments

This week I decided to try my hand making coconut yogurt AND coconut water kefir with young coconuts. If you are unfamiliar with young coconuts they are the white coconuts you often see in health food stores, not the mature brown ones that usually taste nasty (IMO at least). This yogurt is a raw food dish and it is nice for an occasional treat. I started by cracking three of them open. Actually my husband did that part. He drained the coconut water as he opened them and reserved it in a bowl. … [Read more...]
