Toxic Toothpaste for Children

By Tiffany 22 Comments

Toxic toothpaste????! No, I am not talking about tainted toothpaste from China. I am talking about pretty much all children’s toothpaste you find at conventional grocery stores. It is nasty. You don't want to buy any of it. I forgot to buy my usual kids toothpaste awhile back and I go through the stuff like water with one child who likes to squirt it on mirrors, toilets, light switches….you name it. This is a problem because they won’t use my toothpaste…they say it is too hot for them … [Read more...]

I am Thankful

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

It is amazing how often we can let life's little problems blind us to all the wonderful things we have. In general I am a pretty thankful and optimist in my thinking about life but I think everyone can be guilty of getting caught up in all the things that stress us and cause anxiety and we forget to relish in the all the things that are good and right. On the eve of Thanksgiving I write out my annual list of all the things I am most grateful for this year... I am THANKFUL to be 6 … [Read more...]

I Resolve to Have More Fun – How About You?

By Tiffany 3 Comments

I don't typically make New Year's resolutions but I am feeling rather inspired for 2012. I had two goals for 2011 that I set for myself on March 1st (does that count?) to really concentrate on fitness and exercise and to also make more time for me. I guess I just decided that I needed to allow myself to be more than a mom now that my kids are getting older. I blew those goals out of the water and since I am feeling pretty empowered by those successes I think it is time to set some more goals. No … [Read more...]

So Much to be Thankful For…

By Tiffany 8 Comments

I will likely be heading out of town for Thanksgiving this afternoon but of course all week long I have been reflecting on what I am thankful for. It is amazing how often we can let life's little problems blind us to all the wonderful things we have. I am THANKFUL to be 5 years cancer free. I am THANKFUL for an amazing family.... husband, kids, mom, dad, brothers... I am THANKFUL for a lovely home that is warm, cozy, and ridiculously low priced. How did we luck into that? I am THANKFUL that … [Read more...]

Sun Smarts Are Better Than Sunscreen

By Tiffany 10 Comments

According to a report by The Environmental Working Group, only 8% of the beach and sport sunscreens (39 out of 500) offer sufficient protection AND ingredients  safe enough to earn their "green" rating. In my safer sunscreens post I have highlighted some of the ones that received top honors on their list. It is becoming clearer to more and more people that the sunscreen industry is actually less about protecting our skin and more about marketing. How else can they continue to peddle the … [Read more...]
