Do You Follow The Frog?

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

Today kicks off Follow the Frog Week. What exactly is that you ask? Well, basically this initiative comes to us from the Rainforest Alliance and it is a week-long campaign that encourages individuals and businesses to celebrate sustainability by taking even one small step toward a greener lifestyle. There is actually a little green frog on numerous products such as coffee, tea, chocolate, flowers, paper and wood products that signify these are better choices for the planet. Have you seen the … [Read more...]

Gearing Up for Hiking Season

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

These days I am pretty much all about CrossFit but I have not forgotten my other "love". Hiking. I got an email reminder over the weekend that my city's annual Fall hiking series kicks off in late August and I am psyched. You basically take a guided or unguided hike through 10 of our 16 Metro parks. It is a great way to spend every Saturday for ten weeks...with your community, enjoying the changing of the leaves. I look forward to it each year. You get free refreshments after each hike and if … [Read more...]

Give A Cluck – Choose Cage Free Eggs

By Tiffany 1 Comment

In my mind there is nothing like farm fresh eggs from chickens who are pastured and allowed to roam and eat grass and bugs. They have deep orange colored yolks and they are out of this world tasty. Once you try them you won't ever want to buy conventional store bought eggs again. Living in Ohio I am rather lucky that I have dozens and dozens of options for farm fresh pasture eggs all year long. They might cost anywhere from $5.00 to $8.00 a dozen but I happily pay that. They are just THAT good … [Read more...]

My Top Five Green Cars for 2013

By Tiffany 7 Comments

In just a couple days I will be boarding a plane to Detroit where I will be attending the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) for the second year in a row. Last year was really my intro to the world of greener, more fuel efficient, and more planet friendly car options and choices. I was always keen on the idea but since I was not in the market for a car I never investigated what was out there and I never realized just how many strides have already been taken to give us better options … [Read more...]

Creating a Real Foods Kitchen

By Tiffany 26 Comments

I got a great email question from a reader this week and decided to answer it on the blog. I think more and more people are wanting to transition from the Standard American Diet and easily available processed food to real, healthy, homemade goodness. The issue of course is that we find ourselves unprepared to cook real food because we are so used to heat and serve style meals. When we want to cook and bake from scratch we need the right tools so that we can stick with his new lifestyle and not … [Read more...]
