Thrive Foods

By Tiffany 3 Comments

If you have ever embraced a plant based or raw foods diet then you have likely heard of Brendan Brazier.  He is an Ironman Triathlete who also happens to be vegan. I have read about him in various raw foods books since he is quite the fan of raw foods but mostly I knew of him from his product Vega, which I have used in smoothies. Even if you are not raw it is beneficial IMO to look to raw supplement powders because they always tend to be made from whole, organic, healthy foods that are as close … [Read more...]

Planning Nature Day Trips With Your Family

By Tiffany 5 Comments

A grand summer vacation or spring break may not be in the cards for every family. The costs for family travel seems to go up every year and you may not live close enough to an amusement park, so what do you do? Well, if you are like me I plan lots of small day trips instead and most of them revolve around free or low cost activities that take us outside to explore. This is all part of our family simplicity project. We work as little as we can, taking the lower pay with it, so that we can spend … [Read more...]

Pedometer Walking

By Tiffany 3 Comments

Thanks to my lovely, local library I have turned into a reading fool since we relocated to the East side of Columbus. My husband or I make 2-3 trips a week usually. This bookoholic has saved so much money on books! This week I read Pedometer Walking. I saw it on the shelf and decided to dust off my pedometer and see what this book had in store for me. It is really a very interesting book about how much we should be walking daily... or rather how many steps we should be taking. According to … [Read more...]

The Explosive Child Book Review

By Tiffany 10 Comments

Last week I grabbed The Explosive Child from my local library book shelf. I was browsing the parenting titles looking for a specific book on bullies and this one just jumped out at me. I guess the universe provides what you need. As I picked it up I was hesitant because I don't like books with Dr. Phil-esque advice about finding their currency and punishing your kids until they shape up. But I read through the first chapter, aptly named The Waffle Episode. I knew I would take the book home after … [Read more...]

LeapFrog Tag Giveaway

By Tiffany 223 Comments

Remember my Leaprog Tag review from awhile back? Well, we my daughter is still using her Tag frequently...as in once a week or more. In the evenings she often likes to wind down by listening to Fancy Nancy or Olivia books. I am still convinced that it is a great way to keep a child occupied in an educational way while you run errands, travel, or sit in the DMV waiting for your number to be called. March is National Reading Month and to celebrate LeapFrog has started a campaign to get parents … [Read more...]
